I think our left side needs to be firing out off the ball on defense..notice that they are just looking straight ahead and never watching the ball...they are waiting on their guy across from them to come at them and all they are doing is catching...and getting pushed back four yards each time...they need to start watching the ball and firing out...get the jump!!!...I was again very impressed with Lawless..he has established himself as the team leader on the defensive side of the ball...spalgeric is looking good..but need more fire out of the rest of the line...

We win 12-7 against the Burg who lost to Oak Hill tonight and struggle to beat Russell who was beaten handily by Greenup County. Our defense is not very good and our offense is not playing up to their potential. I hope to finish 7-3 but I may be hoping for a bit much.

Right now this team is very average. It all starts with the boys up front and right now they are getting pushed around. Russell exploited the same spot on the line all night long. Our line should be dominating teams. Besides lawless, wilks, and warner the defense is not very aggressive and is in serious trouble if they don't play with more fire. They slept through the first half.
Offense is not clicking like everyone thought but it was good to see some resemblance of a passing game. Once again 9-10 in the box is hard to continually run against I don't care how talented your backfield is. Make teams play honest and watch those running lanes "magically" open up.

I agree. Right now, it sounds like Ironton is no better than Greenup County. A very disturbing score...
Just got back from the game. Ironton offense was decent, not the best we could do but ok. Doesn't seem like we have any backs that will hit the hole and block for our runners. Ironton defense, especially our left side, needs some help. Russell called that dive and the sweep to the right the entire game and got a good 7-8 yards most of the time. Kicking game was a lot better in the 2nd half, poor Trevor. :) Don't expect us to be kicking any FGs anytime soon, though.
The kid had one bad kick and it was his first kickoff ever in a game and his first varsity start and he just came off of a pretty serious injury. I thought he did great especially the time he had to kick it 3 times because of the dumb refs. All of his extra points were good. So what in the world are ya complaining about. Everybody makes mistakes. At least we didn't have 2 failed 2pt conversions this week. Week in and week out these kids work their butts off and there are always a bunch of armchair quarterbacks on here tearing them down. Give it a rest. GO TIGERS!!!!!

he is fine injury wise. Oh I know he will be fine. I am so proud of him. I am proud of all these boys. Sure they need some work but I think over all they will be ok.

You're Tiger Bait wrote:i don't really know anything about russell this year. but i know the fighting tigers need to start sticking people in the numbers when they tackle, and wrap up. and we sure could use a placekicker. but we are huge and have speed. and will only get better. sure would like to see wilks, and brown get to use the wide side of the field, and make some moves. good luck to the ironton fighting tigers. beat them red devils.

Russell was....1-1.............before the Ironton game..............at least........get the thread title........right big shot.........

Ironton is 2-0.......that is all........matters...........
