would you DEPORT Cordero ?
I would ... IMMEDIATELY ! he is a instant rally starter. I can see a guy giving up a run or two sometimes but TWO 3 run innings in the 9th against the pirates ? He refuses to throw strikes and when he does he gets hit. Demote his ______ ! MD

be fine with me , I think we are winning in spite of him , not because of him. Actually I have ZERO respect for him. MD
Re: would you demote Cordero ?
I would hope the Dodgers are smarter than that, but seeing how the ownership of the team is tied up in divorce court, they will continue to do something stupid to bring shame on a once proud franchise.gahs4ever wrote:Dusty is counting the days until he is managing the Dodgers

I know most of our players are home grown and arrived to the system before he got here but I for own think a majority of the responsibility of sucess belongs greatly to Walt Jocketty.ManitouDan wrote:be fine with me , I think we are winning in spite of him , not because of him. Re: would you demote Cordero ?
the (c)loser had to have great catch from bruce last to keep from giving up a game tying home run . He had already given up a run on 2 hits when Bruce saved his backside. How long will dusty keep running him out there ? at this point the guy is just terrible. He can't get thru an inning without multiple runners and giving up a run at least.

How in the world does Dusty keep marching him out there? He is not blowing saves, thanks to some great defense behind him, but statistically for him to continue being a closer on a playoff bound team means an early exit probably for the Reds. 23 ranked relief pitcher in the league!

Re: would you demote Cordero ?
I don't think Cordero's going to get demoted this season. The only replacement I can see for him right now would be Rhodes because I don't know how Chapman would handle closing the game in a big game. With Rhodes, you have an All-Star closing the game. But I think he has really come into his own as the set-up guy. I agree Cordero can raise many people's blood pressure but I don't see him being demoted. I see Chapman being the closer in the near future though.

There are only 4 pitchers above him that are not put in the save situation. 20 pitchers above him have 21 or more saves with era's below Cordero. Bottom line, everyone in a pennant or playoff race has a closer that doesnt make your sphincter pucker when he comes in! LOL

Heck with demoting him, RELEASE him. Getting rid of him and Harang will free up alot of money for other players.
Re: would you demote Cordero ?
I would get rid of Homer Bailey as well, everybody hypes him up when he comes up from Louisville every year, and he ends up letting everyone down with mediocre at best pitching. I think with the exception of a few pitchers, the Reds have a great pitching staff. They just need to get rid of the weak links, and I'm sure Dusty and the rest of the staff know exactly who those are.manwithplan wrote:Heck with demoting him, RELEASE him.
