Digger, you are right, Webster's schedule is all division 3 and 2. Thier only losses this year are a close loss to Alaxander (highly ranked Div. 3), a bad loss and a close loss to Wheelersburg (ranked Div. 3), a close loss to Huntingto Ross (Very Good Div. 3), and a close loss to Valley which was redeemed in the final match of the season.

I forgot a loss in the season opener to Eastern Beaver. Not surprising considering who Eastern Beaver is and how young a team squared off against them first match of theyear.

Not trying to look ahead as you must win and move on but the district semis between Whiteoak and South Webster could be a very good matchup. Who has SW lost to and what good teams have they beaten?

They would meet in district semis...

As mentioned before...

Loses...Wheelersburg--div 3 ranked--twice (one 5 sets), Alexander--div 3 ranked--Huntington--div 3, valley--div 3 (won the second time), eastern pike--div 4 ranked

Some of the Wins...valley, northwest--div 3, Waverly--div 2, Zane trace--div 3, oak hill--div 3

If playing as capable of playing...very good team in div 4 in southeast

South Webster plays in SOC2. They defeated Oak Hill, Northwest, Waverly, Minford and West twice.

They lost to Valley the first time in 5 and swept them in 3 on Thursday.

Burg swept them the first time and beat them in 5 2 weeks ago.

They finished 11-3 and second in SOC2.

Minford beat North Adams late in the season for a reference to strength of the league. South Webster beat Minford in 3 both times.

South Webster has a tough match vs South Gallia before they can think about Whiteoak. Last year South Webster beat South Gallia in 5 in the sectional final.

OUBobcat is right. The winner of SW vs SG plays Whiteoak in the District Semis Thursday at Wellston.

That winner will play Waterford in the District Finals!

Yeah, for whatever reason my posting IQ is about 50 points lower on the vball forum. I meant district semis....but am not capable of posting what i'm thinking.

South Webster certainly played the tougher schedule. Whiteoak's best win might be at Fayetteville to keep them from winning the gold ball within the league.....so obviously Fayetteville also beat NA.

I was wondering if SW played Clay but it appears they didn't. Clay defeated Whiteoak.

according to clay website (http://clay.k12.oh.us/index.php?option= ... &Itemid=50) they did not play whiteoak unless you are considering scrimmage

according to those i talked to scrimmage was in favor of clay (yet whiteoak got #1 seed even with similar records and similar schedule so much for leagues sticking together at drawing as previous posts over the years have blasted)

The only time Webster and Clay played was at a summer tourney at Adena and Webster beat them. Webster was missing their setter at the time and I don't think Clay had all their players. At any rate, the Jeeps have gotten better as the season's progressed and I'm sure Clay has as well so I'm not sure if it would be a good measuring stick. I'm biased so I'm going to say that the Jeeps will be hard to beat if they play like they have been.

A more accurate look at Webster -VS- Clay might be found in matches against a common opponent. Clay played Notre Dame twice this year and won both times in 5 matches. Scores were 1st meeting 17-25, 25-163, 25-22, 18-25, 15-9....2nd meeting 22-25, 25-13, 16-25, 25-19, 15-13.

Webster met Notre Dame once and won in 3 scores were 25-14, 25-16, 25-16.

Clay has also lost to Northwest and Waverly, Webster has 2 victories over each.
Clay lost to Valley in 3, Webster lost to Valley in 5 and beat them latter in the season in 3.

i believe they were trying to compare south webster and whiteoak using clay not who was better in a swebster v. clay matchup. but it works the same. south webster through common opponents is probably the better team if you compare common opponents, wins/losses, and scores. then if you think clay may be better than whiteoak (even though coaches voted whiteoak higher seed than clay) then the logic would say south webster is probably better if they meet.

of course, thats why we play the matches.

svb1122: Most DO NOT make district finals. I just hope that Waterford thinks they are as good as I think they are and brings the game I've seen them play in league play aganst the Eagles. That goes for them until they meet the EAGLES in the regional final. The scenaio of these two teams meeting in the regional final is not a prediction.

Eagles in the sectional finals tonight against Fed-Hoc.

Cobweb: I understand how hard it is to make the District Finals! I was simply looking at their road to get there. Southern and Notre Dame and then the District Finals. If they don't make it that far, then it would be one heckuva upset.

Both Eastern's have a pretty clear route as well. And, yes I know upsets can happen!

I would say the chances are pretty good though that the District Final will have Eastern vs Eastern and Waterford vs ________

svbt....Agree!! Should be a cakewalk for Waterford to the district final. My bet is South Webster, but they have to get by a ever-improving South Gallia team tonight. Go SG Rebels (TVC) in that one!!
