Should Farve play or not
Should Farve play or not
Should Farve play or not. Some suggest he should start the game but come out. That makes the record a joke. Some have mentioned that with player safety being a main focus of the NFL that he should not play.

Re: Should Farve play or not
I know you don't like Farve but come on the record a joke. That record is no joke, like him or not he is tough. It should be his choice if he plays or not. Even hurt he is better then Jackson, Farve has thrown one more interception then Drew Brees so I guess the Saints should bench him too. Farve doesn't have a head injury, the NFL doesn't care about the players legs.
Re: Should Farve play or not
I said the record would be a joke if he starts and then comes out. That would make the record a joke. Just like he did when he laid down to let Michael Strahan to set the sack record for a season. To compare Farve with Brees is a joke also. The big difference is Brees is able to move around. Farve could hardly move around at the end of the game and his offensive line is not the best at protecting him even when he is not hurt.
Re: Should Farve play or not
Farve is about 100 games ahead of the closest person, so no matter what happens the record is not a joke. To compare Farve with Brees is a joke, Farve is a first ballot hall of famer and holds about every record a QB could hold. I am a Marino fan but Farve is good whether you like him or not. People love to point out when he messes up, my point about Brees was he had 4 interceptions last week too but Farve is done cause he threw 4. Two weeks ago Farve was done he had a bad game, but had better numbers then Peyton Manning. Farve is 41 and still in the top 5 QBS in the NFL.
Re: Should Farve play or not
Charge you mentioned Brees and Farve both throwing 4 int's last week. Which I commented on that Brees could still move around and Farve could hardly move around at the end of the game. Also that Farve's offensive line is not the best protecting him if he is hurt or not. Instead of commenting on that you want to pull the Farve is a Hall of Famer. Farve will be in the Hall of Fame but he is not playing close to that this season. Farve is not close to being in the top 5 QB's this year. Some games this year he has a hard time throwing because of his elbow.
To extend a record just to extend it by starting then coming out is a joke. If he starts and stays out there longer that would add more credibility to the record. Farve is not 100 games more than anyone else. Jim Marshall played in 270 regular season games and the actual record which is not being mentioned because of the love affair people have with Farve is held by a punter. Jeff Feagals at 352 regular season games.

Re: Should Farve play or not
First of all i could really care less whether the man plays or not. ESPN should just hop in the sack with him and quit acting like the entire NFL hinges on one guy. Secondly while he WAS an awesome player, time is catching up to him and for his sake i wish he would've left the game while he was on top instead of dragging us through the drama of ESPN reporting every time he goes to the john and trying to decide how that effects the Vikings chances on Sunday. Favre is a better "playmaker" than many of the great qb's that have played the game but as he has lost some of that edge with the passing of time it has led him to push even harder which leads to more and more mistakes. It's time for Minnesota to look to the future and draft/trade the qb of the future...

Re: Should Farve play or not
How many of you would start a QB that threw for 39 yards in the first half and ended up with 159 total yards passing?

Re: Should Farve play or not
Legacy has helped them play their way out of the playoffs up to this point. A coach that sticks with a player that is hurt and not helping the team is hurting the players, fans, and his job in the end. Yes he is a better qb than Jackson even playing hurt but is that the best option in the long run for the team or would a week or two off help him come back stronger and maybe make a run to salvage the season? It really doesn't matter what he has done in the past since they don't base the playoffs on anything other than wins and loses...
Re: Should Farve play or not
The record for any position is held by Jeff Feagals a punter.gahs4ever wrote:First of all, it's FAVRE.
Secondly the record he has already set is unheard of in professional football at any position. Most careers dont last as long as his streak.
So whether he plays or not is only between him, the medical staff, and the Vikings head coach. No one else has an opinion that matters.
Some of you people get on other people for being LeBron haters and then blast Favre and his record. You forgot to reduce the importance of his LEGACY.
Legacy of Farve of Farve retiring then coming back then missing the last 2 training camps. I have gotten on LeBron for his actions and Farve. The problem is with Farve it is about him not the team. This is a team game. With the amount of healthy QB's going down by blitzing defenses. Now an aged and hurt Farve is going to be put out there. Some of the people on tv want to talk about the record and Farve will play. Maybe if Farve does play he will have no choice the next game as he gets hurt even more. As the NFL investigates his behavior with the JETS. Maybe they can get some of the pics he sent so he can be the poster boy for the NFL.

His legacy got them to a NFC championship last year. Do you really think Jackson would have them in the playoff picture, HAHA? Farve gets the blame for the team losing, there is a lot more wrong with this team then Farve. By the way that was Tom Brady that had 39 yards passing in the first half and a total of 159 yards passing for the game. New England still won this game, but Minnesota couldn't win if Farve had those kind of numbers. Also Brett Farve is already the poster boy for the NFL, like it or not.
Re: Should Farve play or not
Farmer, you say it would be a joke if Farve started and didn't finish the game, but you are quick to say Feagals , now that is a joke a guy out there for three or four series in a game, come on your hate is showing.

Re: Should Farve play or not
Charge Feagals has the record and he did his job. Personally I think Jim Marshall being a defensive lineman for all his games in the 60's and 70's. All the hits every play. If Farve starts then comes out that would be a joke.
Charge you want to bring up other QB's and what they have done in some games but those QB's are not as beat up as Farve. Farve had the best year of his career last year. One year after starting out great then could not wait for the end of the year. Where he was not playing well. Along with many Jets team mates not happy with the way Farve treated them and all the special treatment he was getting from management. This year he is back to struggling and the Vikings are not playing well.
Charge you think my hate is showing because you idolize an old 1 leg sore arm QB who is not playing well this year. He is not the Farve from last year. Legacy did not help Michael Jordan in his last year with the Wizards. Also Jackson did help the Vikings get to the playoffs before. Now Jackson has had some time to learn. Jackson may not be a Hall of Fame QB but Farve's play is not good this year. With Farve's health and age Jackson will be playing before the end of the year no matter how much you Farve lovers want him to play.

Re: Should Farve play or not
He started and has his team in the red zone in the 3rd Quarter, so i guesse its not a joke.
Re: Should Farve play or not
well he just took a shot to the chops and was carried off the field bleeding.....off the field ,maybe for the last time?

I do like how tough Farve is but like I said I am a Marino fan. Anyone who doesn't appreciate the beating Farve has taken and continued to start has never played football. Farmer, Im guessing you have never took a football hit or played football.
Re: Should Farve play or not
Charge you are so wrong I have played quite a few years. Also been involved with football since playing days. As I said with his injuries and age it is just a matter of time before Jackson plays. Which did happen today. Maybe the injury is more than a cut on the chin. Hey I have one of them which needed 8 stitches and I didn't come out of the game for a while after receiving that.
Charge most of what you have said has not dealt with how Farve is playing this year and how his health effects the Vikings chances to win. When does his health and play on the field is not what the Vikings need to win? Which is why you play the game. The scoreboard doesn't have a Farve score on it. I have not said Farve is not tough or has not been tough during his career.

Re: Should Farve play or not
i'm not buying into the streak , being bogus at all. it is remarkable. but from somebody who was always a brett favre fan. i can barely stomach hearing his name anymore, similiar to lebron. when he is not able to be effective for his team, because of mobility issues. that is all brad childress' fault. he is the general of the purple army. and he should not have played.

he didnt look to hot curled up on the golf cart. he is one tough bird!!!
