Alex plays a D-6 schedule in there non-league, I'm not sure they would want to play Warren and Jackson in football every year. Meigs plays 1 or 2 tough teams in there non-league most years they might not have a problem with it but I don't think both schools will agree to it.A-Town Big Dog wrote:Why would Meigs care? There isn't exactly a lot of RV posters on preps.gahs4ever wrote:What is conspicuously noticable from this "topic" is the number of N-Y, Athens, and Belpre posters and the absence of anyone from RV .

I agree with MisterB that football will drive this and the other sports are simply along for the ride. And with football, here is where NY stands with every school mentioned for the potential large and medium divisions:
Athens - NY leads all-time series 20-11
Warren - NY leads all-time series 11-7-1
Vinton County - NY leads all-time series 35-8
Meigs - NY leads all-time series 19-12
Alexander - NY leads all-time series 37-1-1
River Valley - NY leads all-time series 4-1 (8-1 if you include the former North Gallia HS)
Wellston - NY leads all-time series 29-9
Belpre - NY leads all-time series 25-15
Federal Hocking - NY leads all-time series 22-1
Trimble - NY leads all-time series 27-12-2
Other schools that could make up a big school division:
Jackson - Jackson leads all-time series 5-1
Gallia Academy - Gallia Academy leads all-time series 3-0
Point Pleasant - never played
Wahama (possible middle divison) - never played
Athens - NY leads all-time series 20-11
Warren - NY leads all-time series 11-7-1
Vinton County - NY leads all-time series 35-8
Meigs - NY leads all-time series 19-12
Alexander - NY leads all-time series 37-1-1
River Valley - NY leads all-time series 4-1 (8-1 if you include the former North Gallia HS)
Wellston - NY leads all-time series 29-9
Belpre - NY leads all-time series 25-15
Federal Hocking - NY leads all-time series 22-1
Trimble - NY leads all-time series 27-12-2
Other schools that could make up a big school division:
Jackson - Jackson leads all-time series 5-1
Gallia Academy - Gallia Academy leads all-time series 3-0
Point Pleasant - never played
Wahama (possible middle divison) - never played

So would a four team league. I doubt if there will be any SEOAL Teams headed to the TVC anytime soon.
Re: River Valley School Board to Vote in Dec on joining TVC
gahs4ever, I love your sense of tradition and agree with a lot of what you have to say, but I just don't think that any league that tries to stay true to historic rivalries will thrive with the challenges that are being presented in todays economy and politics. I absolutely agree with trying to save what can be saved from history. I also know that change is coming, like it or not, and feel that competition should be the driving force behind whatever decisions need to be made. I have seen this happen with NY not playing Trimble at the end of the year, which would have been unthinkable to me when I was in school, evolve into just another important non league game. Disappointing as it may be sacrifices are going to be made when it comes to conference affilitations and such.

For the record I hope the SEOAL doesn't fold up shop, I think the current teams in the league are excellent programs with great fan bases. In it's current configuration I would rather Athens play in that league, don't get me wrong I really enjoy the TVC and the teams we play I just miss some of the old rivalry games. I do see why Warren would want out of the SEOAL but the other schools I think would benefit better staying where they are and maybe picking up another school more centrally located.

One thing is for sure, and that is if the state forces consolidation Phil will be the head football coach since he would have seniority. I wonder if he would hire Davey? I think they do get along pretty well.NYBuckeye96 wrote:I'd rather see NY in the big school division. That's where they will be after the state consolidates Trimble with NY anyways.

Did I hear that right? The new school in Athens county would have Phil Faires as the head coach. Man, the rest o the league better watch out if that happens. That Trimble squad was the best team we have seen this year.
Re: River Valley School Board to Vote in Dec on joining TVC
HeavyD...Its not NY consolidation with Trimble. Its Trimble. Nothing would change at NY.

There is no way that the TVC should even consider becoming the SEOAL if a couple of other teams from that soon to be defunct league come in. Personally, I don't see Jackson ever being admitted. That goes for Gallia as well. Warren is a possible, but they were in there at one time and opted out. Good luck to them. Just MHO.
Re: River Valley School Board to Vote in Dec on joining TVC
If Logan and Chillicothe leave the Seoal, they will try to add a team or two and I'll bet one of those teams will be Athens.

I don't see Athens opting back into the SEOAL. The TVC has brought Athens sports back from the dead. Too many local rivalries with big gates for Athens in the TVC to opt back to the SEOAL. I haven't heard one Athens person regret joining the TVC, be it a player, fan, parent, coach, or administrator.

I will say this! The SEOAL has a lot of history, but it is just history! If it sticks around then great!! If it disbands then great! If Logan and Chille decide to go to the MSL then I don't see the SEOAL being around . Jackson already tried to sneak out the back door, Warren won't be a SEOAL member for long.

if Logan and Chillicothe leave for MSL...
Does the SEOAL look to bring teams back?
Athens... success in TVC. Can schedule bigger schools for non conference games. Big games in TVC = $$$$$. I don't see them going anywhere.
VC/NY... some have mentioned these two schools. I don't see either ever leaving the TVC for the same reasons as Athens.
What happens if Warren also leaves and is voted into the TVC? What does Gallia Academy, Jackson and Portsmouth do? From this thread GA seems to have some support to the TVC. Jackson not so much.
Portsmouth to the SOC? That's been discussed and voted on before and hasn't worked out for Portsmouth. Same for Jackson.
Soooo... Logan and Chilli leave for MSL. Warren returns to TVC. I see GA possibly turning to the TVC also. Jackson and Portsmouth are left as independents... unless SOC changes their mind and accept them. Another question what would be the chances of Jackson joining Logan and Chilli to the MSL?

How many teams does the TVC need to add after TV to split into 3 divisions?

Would Alex be willing to switch with NY in other sports besides football & maybe even wrestling? That would be best for NY I would thinkOrange and Brown wrote:might look something like this if Logan and Chilli go to the MSL.
BIG DIVISION
Athens
Warren
Nelsonville-York
Vinton County
Gallia
Meigs
MEDIUM DIVISION
Alexander
River Valley
Wellston
Federal Hocking
Belpre
Trimble
SMALL DIVISION
Eastern
Miller
Southern
South Gallia
Waterford
Wahama
It could look like that, then again it could look completly different.
