Palmer still maybe back. maybe
ESPN first reported that Palmer and Brown huddled at Paul Brown Stadium the week of July 25, sometime after the lockout ended and before the team reported to Georgetown College on July 29 for camp.
It's unclear whether the meeting happened before or after Brown's harshest words for the quarterback on July 26.
"Carson signed a contract, he made a commitment," Brown said. "He gave us his word. We relied on his word and his commitment. We expected him to perform here. If he is going to walk away from his commitment we aren’t going to reward him for doing it."
The Enquirer reported that while the stalemate between the two sides is ongoing, some within the organization believe that Palmer, scheduled to make $11.5 million this season, could end up reporting to the team at some stage.
If that ever happened, offensive coordinator Jay Gruden believes it would take time for Palmer to learn his new offense.
"In order to play quarterback at this level in the new system, I would think he would want to practice and obviously he’s made a decision very clear that he’s not coming back," Gruden said. "But if he did walk in I’d welcome him back I’d suppose. He’d have to win the job."

I always thought if I were him, I'd sit out and relax through training camp, let them work the rookie in, then come back before the first game and ride the bench. Most highly paid backup in the NFL. Mike Brown has to be rubbing his nickels so furiuosly they are glowing red!!!!!!!!!

Dave Lapham made the comment he could pick up this offense in half a day . If he likes what he has seen in preseason maybe there is something to this .

Re: Palmer still maybe back. maybe
Palmer has not had much help over the past few years with the Bengals OC. He has not played well since being injured. Palmer maybe more valuable as a trade if a team gets a starting QB injured. No reason for the Bengals to hold on to him to prove a point. Also with the way they didn't give his brother much of a chance before releasing him.
Some wonder if Manning's injury would be a lasting problem if Palmer maybe better than what they already have in Indy. Palmer is already better than what the Redskins have but to bring him in after the McNabb mess is unlikely. There is also Seattle with the QB problems. So there maybe a team that might want to work a trade early in the season.

Even if traded for a hotdog maker, it is better than nothing. What a stupid thing to do by MB....probably the dumbest thing I have ever seen out of Bengal mgmt. Trade him while he has some trade value!!
I'd love to see the Bengals compete (I am a Browns fan) but don't see any high level FA ever coming to Cinci after this especially when Brown throws out the commitment language in regards to players signing a contract knowing how poorly owners are at honoring contracts with players.....wow!! Good luck, as long as MB runs the show Bengal fans are gonna need a lot of luck.

Re: Palmer still maybe back. maybe
one of palmers big problems is a simple one to fix, that is if my bengals were not his coaching staff. he refuses to roll his wrist over on the follow through on his delivery, and he throws everything high as a result.
Re: Palmer still maybe back. maybe
The Colts maybe rethinking their choice of Kerry Collins and giving him big money instead of getting Palmer. But to bring Collins in that late when then expect him to win was unrealistic.
Then the Vikings with McNabb throwing for under 50 yards but they shouldn't try to get another veteran QB to fix the offense unless they do not think Ponder is not close to playing.
No QB's got hurt so there may not be many looking to bring him in yet.

Re: Palmer still maybe back. maybe
There was talk today during the game that the Bengals would trade Palmer but when Mike Brown wants not Palmer. So maybe the Bengals will get something for him after all.
Re: Palmer still maybe back. maybe
The Raiders now have lost their starting QB. They have Kyle Boler and rookie T Pryor. So this could be a good place to trade Palmer. The Bengals have already traded for a QB with the Raiders this year. So maybe they can send one their way and get something out of Palmer.

What would cincy get havent the raiders pretty much traded all of their draft picks lolfarmer wrote:The Raiders now have lost their starting QB. They have Kyle Boler and rookie T Pryor. Re: Palmer still maybe back. maybe
There was a report a few weeks ago the Mike Brown would trade Palmer when he is ready not when Palmer is. With Dalton playing well may help.
Yes the Raiders have traded away a lot of draft picks already. But they have a chance to go to the playoffs so they may work up some kind of deal. Nothing is surprising when it involves the Raiders.
Also the Dolphins play tonight with Moore as a QB. They have tried to get Orton but may settle for Palmer.

2 first round picks. WOW they are overpaying to win now.
Re: Palmer still maybe back. maybe
yes they are if the deal happens. I guess Carson needs to agree to redo contract. I would have never thought Brown would let go.
