I would rather them pitch him a full season as a closer before they throw him in the rotation. They don't even know if his arm can handle it seeing as he didn't pitch many innings last year yet they want to throw him in the rotation? Not to mention, sometimes Aroldis's control is poor at best.noreply66 wrote:use the guy as a closer

Webb signing with the Rangers disapoints me. Look for the reds to go out and try to sign a lefty in the pen. Still need a ss and maybe another guy to play in the field would be nice.

Re: 2011 Cincinnati Reds
It sucks Arthur Rhodes is gone but it opens up opportunities for the younger pitchers. I would hate to see Leake, Wood, Bailey, or LeCure go back to the Bats unless one of them are horrible in spring training. I think Chapman's calling right now is to be the set up guy until they see how well he does pitching more innings. I would like to see Cordero go but I doubt it's going to happen with his salary. If Burton gets back to his old form and Masset stays consistent they would be candidates for a closer, if the spot should open up. Back in 2007 Burton was supposed to be the closer of the future until he struggled and later had surgery.

Espn is reporting that shortstop Edgar Rentiria has signed with the Reds! Gives some stability at SS, however I would love to see Janish get his chance!

Re: 2011 Cincinnati Reds
When I heard that Rentiria was signing with the Reds my first thought was that Scott Rolen has to have something to this. I mean Rolen and Rentiria were teammates in St. Louis and Rolen knows what to expect from Edgar at the shortstop position, I am sure Janish will get chances at short this season, he just has to show Dusty and the rest of the coaching staff that he wants it more.

I think Janish will still get plenty of playing time. I hope rentirea can still be a vaccum in the middle infield.

Barry Larkin recieved 62.1% of the votes this year compared to 51.6% last year. His vote total picked up almost 10% from last year and he recieved the highest % out of all the players that didn't make it this year.

Re: 2011 Cincinnati Reds
The Reds inked Votto to a three year deal worth 38 million...I wish they could have gotten a longer contract out of him but I am happy we have him for at least 3 more years.

Dusty told Janish that he is the starter coming into the spring despite Renteria. They also signed Fred Lewis as a possible lead-off hitter.

The Reds locked up Bray with a 1 year deal. They are still in arbitration with Cueto and volques(sp)
