STOP THE INSANITY!!!
Re: STOP THE INSANITY!!!
The Reds had to pay Votto that much or he would have just ended up somewhere else. Face it, if Cincy wants to consistently compete, they are going to have to shell out the big bucks.

If the Reds get a player that contributes as much or more than Votto, then they can pay him as much or more!
Until then it's not an issue for the other players.
Votto got paid what he deserves, and it's about dam time the Reds started spending some of that money they get from the Yankees every year!

They get over 60 million a year from luxury tax sharing, so they can start spending the Yankey money on something other than steak dinners for the ownership!

Re: STOP THE INSANITY!!!
The notion that because Votto got a bug raise means that everyone else that has a good year will get huge contracts is overly inflated.
Jay Bruce will be paid accordingly to his peers at his position in the league, not on the Reds.
Brandon Phillips will get a contract similar to what a second baseman of his production on another team would get, not because of Votto, but because of the market.
The Reds are finally paying market value. This makes me very happy!!!
If Votto can get more from somewhere else in three years, then good for him. I hope he stats a Red, but in this era, nobody retires with the club they struck it big with.
