This next set of comments are directly towards Jimmy da Greek and Peake....Don't think I was gonna let ya'll off da hook with your arrogance!! Now!!! let's compare your quality wins on your resume with Portsmouth's quality wins....Don't worry, I'll wait!!! It don't compare....And for you to talk about our records but leave out your opponents records is ludicrous....Especially when you consider that the OVC isn't particularly strong and the SVC is down right now....Ya'll have tried to rationalize or as Peake would say, "use logic" and say that Chesapeake's best quality win would be what???? a "loss" to a team in WV!!! Seriously??? You can't count a loss as a quality win. You lost to em, and a loss is a loss.....And don't come in here with that comparative scores garbage either....
Now for Jimmy da Greek, to get on here and downplay Piketon getting blasted at "the Oven" and then try to knock the legitimacy of Portsmouth is crazy. You always try to spin things to make it look better for Piketon by downplaying whatever someone may say about Piketon. All I know is lots of Ptown fans have been saying that we'd be a much better team at full strength and it's playing out before everyone's eyes!! So when ya'll beat a team the caliber of Chillicothe come looking for me. I won't hide....I never said Piketon or Chesapeake weren't good teams. But you like to downplay anything we do by making statments like this------>>>>>(as Jimmy da Greek put it): talking about "my Trojans got beat by South Webster (D4) and just about every legit team on our schedule (Chillicothe, Warren, and 16-7 Los Alamitos, CA)" and then you say the only teams we beat over .500 is Ironton, Burg, and Marietta; blah blah blah blah blah....But don't post your opponents records...Oh!!!!! You probably don't wanna get exposed again. Sheesh!!! Truth of the matter is, at least until the tourney, your squads STILL probably won't get exposed, cause Piketon and Chesapeake play in not very strong conferences, with both those teams being the "heavyweights" in their respective conferences.
Oh I almost forgot...please don't try to talk transfers, Piketon...come on!!! Everybody knows Bendolph was born and raised in Portsmouth.....don't act like he's some vagabond roaming the earth.....and keep downplaying your loss to Zainesville all you want....But truth is, not only did ya'll lose to a top 5 team in D2....ya'll got humiliated...and at home!!! So that should hold a lot of weight, considering that the SVC isn't considerably strong!! I know I said it was mainly at Peake and Jimmy but it just so happens that many may have ended up in the line of fire!! You can't keep downplaying our wins!!!

Lastly, Piketon has 4 wins against teams over .500: Huntington(twice), Paint Valley, and Unioto
Outside of Zanesville, the combined records of their non-league opponents so far is: 15-38. Even with Zanesville, their non-league opponents record is: 26-40.
Outside of Piketon, the rest of the SVC is pretty balanced, with the 3 above .500 that I put above as the only average to above average ones.

I have seen all the teams in the top 8,and said that I would wait after the Portsmouth,Chillicothe game to post my top 8 only to find that there was a 6pm deadline, well it doesnt matter, imo the best two teams played last night, they both play great D,they have size, speed and are well coached.
I think they are the top two teams with Chesapeake in the conversation.

Responding, in kind, to a few of the preceding posts....... basketball affords a loss here and there (unlike football for example) and losses should be considered! ESPN doesn't have the market on opinion cornered!!! When you have only 1 L and it is to a quality team..that does show something! The beauty of all this is...IN Basketball you have a playoff system that allows such discussion to be settled on the hardwood!!!!!!! D3 has some good teams (Peake/P-mouth/Piketon)...putting others down to build yourself up is "old and tired"...time will tell......go Peake

jgordon0315, I see I struck a nerve! Keep drinking that "Trojan Punch"...Congrats on the win over Chilli, that was impressive and a quality win. No shame here about getting smashed by Zanesville at the "Oven". Every team needs a good ole butt kicking every now and then to re-group and re-focus. Zanesville is hot right now and a very legit team. You started this....For three years now...I've been hearing how good the Trojans are and everyone is scared to face them in the tournament. Well here's some locker-room material....MAKE IT OUT OF THE SECTIONAL!!!!!!!!!

Portsmouth is going to Columbus. Hopefully, they stay injury free because that's the best team I have seen this year.

I can't understand talking quality wins and comparisons, the trojans wins in Florida were to teams that have a combined record of 13 wins 27 losses, and a record of all three games in Florida is 29 wins and34 losses.
Re: "The People's Elite 8" sponsored by datchillicav week 4
I think the win last night was a great win. I am no going to argue that. I also said a long time ago I stuck my foot in my mouth about Portsmouth, and apologized for it.
I think Portsmouth is a very good team and playing very well right now. They are going to go above Chilli in my poll count on that.
The rest of your argument means little to me. Our 1 loss came to THE BEST TEAM IN WV. When you compare our like opponents, we have not beaten Ironton as bad as you did, but we beat Gallia by 50+, and you beat them by 5. We have also beaten Ironton twice now and I believe they are sitting at 6 loses now? I wouldn't be thumping my chest over a win over a team with 6 or so loses, but that is just me. I believe we beat the Burg by 30+ as well. So like opponents we are 4-0, with the average win margin well into the 20's-30's. You win was more impressive v Ironton and Chesapeake's were far more impressive v the Burg and Gallia. Columbus Africentric is 6-4 I believe, I feel that is a pretty quality win as well.
My only problem is that Portsmouth fans put Portsmouth above 1 loss team who has been blowing opponents out of the water. Portsmouth is a very good program, who I probably underrated, but Polls are a body of work. THis isn't the who is playing good this week poll, this is the entire body of work poll. The AP, BCS, Coaches polls are not going to jump a 4 loss team over a 1 loss team in a poll. Not going to happen. Does this mean the 4 loss team can't beat the 1 loss team, heck no, but this is why we don't allow the general public to vote in polls that actually matter lol.
Falcon,
I saw Cin taft and I seriously doubt Portsmouth is close to them. Chesapeake couldn't hold a candle to them imo.

According to maxpreps the team you refer to as the "Best Team in West Virginia†Logan, is 8-6. After a 64 to 43 defeat by Chapmanville.

Guess its okay to thump you chest after a close lose to a team with 6 loses.

WRONG!
They beat Chapmanville by 21.
Their losses have come to Princeton Day Academy, MD (16-8), Preston Prep, LA (12-2), Irmo, SC (19-3), East Hall, GA (14-4), South Gwinnett, GA (15-2), and #1 Columbus Northland (15-0).
Combined record of 91-19.
I also stand corrected Ironton has 5 loses.

IMO....Chillicothe beat Portsmouth the first go around....Chillicothe beat Warren first time around....Portsmouth lost to Warren.....Portsmouth beat Chillicothe the second time around...i know AB wasnt active the first go arounds but a loss is a loss....Chillicothe and Portsmouth will be tied for 2nd in my next poll....if Chillicothe beats Warren again(to which it will be a tall order at Warren), Chillicothe would go one up on the Trojans....until someone out of the SE beats Chesapeake they stay #1....make sense? The SE is having a great year of basketball...one of the best that i can remember....
