Alright....enough mindless babble......gotta get to the game.

Good Luck to both teams and hopefully a great game and tournament preparation for each.

Can't forget my parking pass!

Does that mean Jackson won 50-49?

Very good game. Jackson led by 13 near the end of the 3rd qtr...but struggled mightily with the press and VC tied it up and it was tied late. Colt Chapman rebounded the VC shot with 16 seconds left and took the ball down the court. VC had 2 guys turning him 30+ feet away with under 10 seconds and he didn't have much of a look but a VC player runs right in to him with 2.8 seconds on the clock. Chapman made the 1st free throw and after a Jackson TO misses the 2nd on purpose and got the rebound for another big win.

It was reported that the rebounding was tied at 31 each but it SEEMED as if VC was really crashing the boards better. VC also took 20 more shots (if I remember the stats correctly) and had 10 fewer turnovers...but Jackson found a way to win. We've improved a good bit. The coaching staff is doing a nice job and the kids are playing very hard.

VC really moved the ball well about the perimeter but only connected on 6/28 3 pointers. They had many more open looks than the Ironmen just could not get the rolls. Jackson seemed to get very few easy looks as VC's defense moved well.

Good Luck to VC in the tournament.

Tonight was Jackson's 7th game in 12 days.......next up Circleville on Monday.

If memory serves me correctly, Jackson played the spoiler to VCs end of the season, last year.

I forgot that it was a season finale but yes, Jackson won an intense game at VC last year. OT?

Strength of the best league in the Southeast just enhanced. Jackson may have lost a lot this year, but anyone staring Chilly,Portsmouth, Warren and Marietta 8 times is potentially looking at 8 losses.

Nothing against VC and Coach Combs but the SEAOL is legit.

Congrats to Jackson on a big win.... love that 1-3-1 worked well, but the main reason im posting tonight, i read a thread awhile back about referees, now the varsity game was well done, alot of emotion, intensity from both teams, but ne seen the frosh and jv games now knows why the refs get bad rap, very inconsistant both ways... no not a one sided game just over all bad, i didnt get to see the first 1/2 of the frosh game, but i did see one ref that didnt even know what an over and back call was..... and doing jv games terrible. i mean a kid throws a inbound pass and it goes in the back court and gets called over and back, until corrected by the other 2 but costing a turnover because it went to a jump ball call, then a kid falls and hits his head.... same ref laughing about it?..... dont know the ad there but think twice about sending him back to jr high only?

I thought 2 of the varsity refs did a nice job. Derrow just about always does and he was good again.

08tiger: agree with you on officiating at "lower level" games. I have seen a few of those in Wash. Co. One especially, a young girl (from Belpre, I think) should not be officiating above elem-jr high level. I saw a call of hers overruled by the other officials...something you don't often see.

The Vikings had a terrible cold streak in the first half. For example, senior Adam Ward, who scored 27 the night before on six threes, was 0 for 7 from beyond the arc in the first two periods. And he wasn't the only one, the whole team struggled offensively, as a team the Vikings were 6 for 25 in the first half, 24%. If the Vikings were able to shake the ice, it could have been a different game. However, the Vikings were able to battle back after being down 12, late in the third period, they showed some tremendous resolve. Moreover, when a team goes on the road, out-rebounds their opponent, commits less turnovers, and plays hard in a hostile environment, you would hope to win.

But what I find fascinating, is the five technicals handed out by one of, who would think, the best crews in the Southeast District. Unbelievable.

I was never on that boat for sure.

What did the guy say that got tossed? The ref was trying to throw 2 other people instead of the guy who said whatever put the ref over the edge.
