Re: UFC 129: GSP vs Shields
Predictions:
Prelims:
Watson 2nd rnd Sub
MacDonald decision
Menjivar decision
Patrick decision. Should see alot of ground work from both guys, scramble sub attempts. Dark horse for fight of the night.
Jabouin Decision.
Spike TV:
MacDonald Decision.
Ellenberger 2nd Rnd TKO. Jake should get this to the ground and really pound on Pierson.
Main:
Bocek decision. Another really intriguing fight, Bocek has some impressive Jiu Jitzu but Henderson is almost impossible to submit. Henderson has solid standup and should do all he can to stay upright
Matyushenko Decision.
Machida Decision. Probably the biggest question mark fight on the card, I feel the speed of Machida will be able to take the fight away from Randy's great gameplanning
Aldo 2nd Rnd TKO. Aldo is just far superior than anyone in the division, no disrespect to Hominick
GSP decision. Your only as good as your last fight and Shields IMO lost his last fight against Martin Kampmann, but I don't see GSP getting a finish here as Shields sub game is top notch and he has very good chin.
KO of the Night: Aldo
Sub of the Night: Watson
Fight of the Night: Toss up between MacDonald/Diaz, and Bocek/Henderson

Re: UFC 129: GSP vs Shields
I did OK with 128, only bad loss I took was taking Cro Cop which I KNEW he was going to lose but I had a spec of hope for some nostalgia and decided to just go with it.
Georges St Pierre - The real test is when this hits the mat but I don't think GSP will be submitted just as I don't think he'll stop Jake. Wouldn't be surprised but don't see it happening.
Jose Aldo
Lyoto Machida - Probably a 30-27 decision coming but also wouldn't be surprised to see him TKO Randy or Randy grinding him out. Stylistically this is the fight I've been wanting since Machida debuted.
Jason Brilz - Close fight, 50/50. I like Brilz's ground game more and don't think Vlad will be able to work ground and pound all fight.
Ben Henderson - One of the better match-ups on the card. Nearly went Bocek but when Bendo's submission defense/tolerance and takedown defense I think the more polished striker will take a decision.
Nate Diaz
Sean Pierson
Yves Jabouin
Claude Patrick
Ivan Menjivar
Jason MacDonald
John Makdessi
Undercard picks and such are just initial picks and some good match-ups that could go either way as they are that close. It comes down to which fighter you think imposes their gameplan.

Re: UFC 129: GSP vs Shields
Results:
Garza 1st Round Flying Triangle Choke. Another highlight reel win for Garza
Makdessi 3rd Round KO Spinning Back Fist. Dominant performance from 'The Bull'
Jason MacDonald 1st Round Triangle Choke. Very strong performance by Jason, good to see him back.
Menjivar 1st Round TKO. He broke Valencia's nose with a elbow than just went to town.
Patrick Decision. Roberts lack of stand up cost him, Patrick needs to develop a killer instinct, he initiated the clinch and some takedowns despite the fact that he was FAR superior stand up.
SpikeTV:
Ellenberger 1st Round KO. Jake has some BIG power. He looked ready for the top tier at 170.
Rory MacDonald Decision. Rory is even more legit than I thought he was, if GSP does leave the Welterweight Division than I don't think it will be too long until Rory is the dominant force at 170.
Main:
Henderson Decision. Good fight, Henderson's aggression was the key.
Matyushenko 1st Round KO. When did V-Mat become a savage KO artist? Great performance.
Machida 2nd Round KO. A flying front kick KO. Sucks that will probably be the last time we see Randy.
Aldo Decision. What a fight, Hominick earned a die hard fan right here.
GSP Decision. I almost took a nap.

Re: UFC 129: GSP vs Shields
Sub of the Night: Pablo Garza
KO of the Night: Machida
Fight of the Night: Aldo/Hominick
Overall great night of fights, Main event was excruciatingly boring but was the only bad fight on the card.
