Bannon Park Classic
July 1-3, 2011
The Bannon Park Classic is a 5 on 5 full court double elimination outdoors basketball tournament held in Bannon Park, 14th street & Robinson Ave. in Portsmouth, Ohio.
The Classic started in 1979 and historically was one of the top summer basketball tournaments in the Tri-State of Ohio, Kentucky, And West Virginia. The Classic has featured hundreds of high school and college standouts over the years with at least three Professional Basketball Players participating in this three day event. Games are played all day and through the night, with a theme for each day. The Classic kicks off on Friday July 1st with Opening Ceremonies and the theme “Under Friday Night Lights†featuring local high school teams battling for the top spot in the upper brackets. The Portsmouth Trojans became the first high school team to advance to the championship game last year. The event includes music, food, and plenty of “street basketball†excitement. Jimmy,
Yes, the Streaks will be participating again. I hope to get a couple more high school teams this year. The Portsmouth vs. Piketon game under Friday Night Lights was exciting last year.

The Chef heard it was a real exciting and expect it to be again this year. Think the Streaks will surprise a lot of people. The Streaks will not be rebuilding just reloading. A lot of talented underclassmen played huge time and there's same young players coming up that The Chef is told will be real talents. Plus there's same serious size coming up.

Greek,I'm fielding a team that could be one of the greatest the classic has ever seen, can you imagine that.Better than the Maysville teams of 91 and 92,Coach Eugene Collins team of 93,or any of Coach Lisaths Young Gun teams in the mid 90's,looking forward to this great event, where the best basketball in southern ohio is assembled.
