I still think Howard's defensive efforts are being dismissed. I think the way he has played defensively, along with his offensive accomplishments puts him at the top of the list with Miller. No doubt, Miller's offensive numbers are special... He's a darn good player! Burg's offensive style is going to lead to bigger offensive numbers for the position. I just think there is something to be said for a guy that has been special on both sides of the ball. He's also taken care of the ball in an amazing way. It's just not an open and shut case in my opinion.... If it were offensive back of the year, or offensive player of the year then Miller would win hands down. That being said, best of luck to the Burg tonight! Go SOC!

Wobycat,

Miller did NOT rush for 168 against Valley. He didnt even sniff 100. If we're going to have an honest conversation, lets stick with facts only please. It's already been established that Miller put up better numbers than Howard, so lets not embellish any.

i ain't seen the numbers yet on patrick lewis, and those will be with johnson central, ky/columbus bishop watterson/columbus bishop hartley not even kicking to him.but they must just be mind boggling, i ain't gonna lie, all i've seen is ironton and it's opponents this year. aside from 1 game with valley/minford. but he has ole bait's vote. this kid is something special. and a great kid/christian to boot.

No worries...The closer I get to 50 the less I can see and hear! 8)

I'd say Miller takes the trophy this year.

So, you're saying that Miller didn't play defense ? I thought I read where he had 7 tackles in the Valley game.

He was just so outstanding offensively his defense was overlooked a lot.

Actually I believe he's saying Howard is a better defensive player than Miller. I also understood him to believe Miller was a better offensive player. I further understood him to discuss the award is not meant for ONLY offense or defense.

I don't know where they got those stats but I sure don't remember Eddie ripping off a 77 yard run.

According to BurgFan.com, which I would trust more than MaxPreps, the Pirates only had 129 total rushing yards on 35 attempts with a long of 38 yards.

Since when did Maxpreps represent "the facts"?? Is that what you really believe? That's as good as the guy that brought the knife to a gun fight.

Look, if I had a vote, it would go to Miller. At the same time, I understand where a case can be made for Howard. I don't need to rely on alleged facts reported by people who weren't even at the game(s) to tell me what I've witnessed with my own eyes, not to mention the stats reported by 3 other sources who were at the game don't even come close to agreeing. Maxpreps is wrong all the time, but you keep on believing. Those "facts" aren't even as valuable as the dust cloth Valley will use to keep the GOLD FOOTBALL that Howard led them to that night anyway. My Burg friends know I have respect, so they'll understand that last remark 8)

Seems you're always telling us what other people "mean". Just like when a poster said that Valley hadn't beat Wheelersburg at Valley in 40 years and you followed his post with....."What he 'meant' was ....two or three paragraphs of blah, blah, blah....." which nobody really cared about.

And as far as "facts" go, nobody bends and spins the "facts" more than the Valley clan. .... so give us a break and try letting people speak for themselves..

I stand corrected on stats. but overall Miller did better in statistics. so well he probably will end up player of region. I'm done with the argument. I'm exhausted plus I'm a grown man, although I haven't acted like one. good luck valley against grove.
