changing schools, still play?

Post by softball24_7 »

Hello, were considering returning our child to their previous school. At the current time, she is enrolled in a private school and is playing BBall. This is Jr High, grade 7. We are wondering if she would be allowed to finish the year out with her new school. Not sure how the rules work, whether she would have to sit the rest of the year out and wait till next year, or if she would automatically be able to play. How bout spring sports, does anyone know if they would be affected as well?

In ohio- the school you report to as a freshman is your school. Anything Before That You Can Change Schools All You Want. No rules until that freshman season

That is correct, I believe this changes next year when the OHSAA starts to give a lot more guidance/restrictions for grades 7-8, but that wouldn't be applicable in this case.

Might want to check new school rules. If the new school cut any players from the team at the start of the season, I'm not sure they would want to take on any players at mid season. Parents of the cut players might be very unhappy.
