According to Joe Eitel's site, Coal Grove has been mathematically eliminated.

question, is it possible that if portsmouth wins tonite it could get west to #8 and into the playoffs. sorry if this has been covered already but after all the ovc drivel i just skipped to the bottom to ask this question.

Yes, Im pretty sure portsmouth wins West gets in. You call it OVC drivel, but you're giving us the perfect example. West plays like 3 OVC teams they went 7-3, yet are clinging to a Portsmouth win to get them into the playoffs. If they had scheduled 1 or 2 other better teams not OVC they could be sitting pretty with a playoff spot. Instead they are between a rock and a hard place. Need portsmouth to win to be in and if get in they draw Hartley 1st round.

Re: Week 10: (8-1) Raceland KY @ (6-2) Ironton
thanks cannon, i asked it on another thread and was also told that indeed a portsmouth win gets west in. playing hartley will give us all a measurement of how close or far away we all are on winning this region. i dont see how i was giving you a perfect example by calling it drivel, and really only read about 1/3rd of all the posts on it. i agree with what your saying about playing the ovc not really preparing you for a strong playoff run. i also think the ovc has been one of the weakest confrences in ohio for several years now which will probably upset a lot of people. hey, its my opinion. i just think ironton didnt have any choice. the athletic dept. was bleeding money traveling all over. i would have loved to have gone into the soc. but i dont think the soc would EVER allow portsmouth in, and i think ironton and portsmouth are kinda a package deal. dont ask me why. the ovc was the only choice by process of elimination. also if the confrence stays at 7 members its 6 league games a year prescheduled and it allows to schedule 4 games to test yourself and accumulate points to assure you make the playoffs. i think gallipolis joining may be a poor choice as well especially since they are div3 and the ovc is mostly div 5 schools, but if the seoal stays at 4 schools i think they will have no choice , gallipolis or jackson n the ovc is kinda like the issue athens has in the league they are in now. so , i can live with it till something better comes along.

The replay of this game is now up on the Ironton Tribune webiste. Please visit http://www.irontontribune.com/2014/11/0 ... t-ironton/ to watch the game from last night. Also, I was told that Time Warner channel 25 is currently not working due to an accident that damaged some lines.

I agree, they played 3 OVC Teams and garnered 27 level 2 points.tigercannon71 wrote:Yes, Im pretty sure portsmouth wins West gets in. You call it OVC drivel, but you're giving us the perfect example. Great game and test for Tigers but penalties will be their down fall if they don't focus.
Passing game still isn't there and pass defense is still a worry but a win against a good team like Raceland is still a win regardless.

Their defense came to play in 2nd half though. They held Raceland to 7 total yards of offense in 2nd half.
