I'm in complete agreement with this post westfanWestfan wrote:If West plays as they have they will beat Minford. And if they can't they don't deserve to go to the playoffs anyway. Re: 2014-REGION 17
Beating Pirates or Indians will be a very tall task for the Senators this year. They are competing much better and are in games that most people never gave them a chance. Unfortunate for the area, I see them going 6-4 and missing the playoffs this year, but I hope they prove me wrong. The Oaf wrote:Yes, West at 7-3 with a win over Valley OR Wheelersburg should put them in. Hartley will pick up a ton more points against undefeated Div. III Jackson. Going to be great watching this region unfold into the playoffs.Westfan wrote:nutronron2012 wrote: This is what Drew Pasteur has projected after 2 weeks
Region 17 Projections
1) Wheelersburg (9-1) 25.51
2) St Clairsville (9-1) 20.40
3) Liberty Union (Baltimore) (7-3) 17.55
4) Coshocton (8-2) 17.05
5) Martins Ferry (8-2) 16.89
6) Bishop Hartley (Columbus) (4-6) 14.32
7) Ironton (4-5) 12.11
8 ) Portsmouth West (West Portsmouth) (5-5) 10.95
This is looking more and more like a possibility. I would say in whatever order those top 7 will probably make it. West and others are fighting for one spot. I don't think West will loose 3 more games without substantial injuries and such. I say we finish 6-4 to 8-2. 7-3 or better and we are probably in. Without a win over Valley or wheelersburg and we may be out.

Senators were 3rd last year in SOC> I see them 3rd or 2nd the league this year. LU is overrated this year. Burg is going to stay high in the standings and if Ironton continues to compete all 4 quarters they will give everyone trouble. Last two spots are a toss up still.

We'll see I guess. LU is a good football team. Like valley they are not as good as last year. Having seen both up close, in my opinion LU is a better football team. They are bigger and have just as many athletes. West played right with LU so I think we can play with valley. We'll see in a few weeks.

Interesting news that I heard today is that there will be a new R17 team added. Columbus Eastmoor has been realigned to division V because of school closing a and enrollment changes in Columbus. Not positive if this is 100% but sounds like the realigned schools were told today. The other school is Marion Franklin, possibly moving down to DIV

Re: 2014-REGION 17
Confused. How does realignment move a team from Division 3 to 5? Wouldn't you move to 4?
Re: 2014-REGION 17
Eastmoor will move to Region 17. They will have a playoff spot for sure. They will end up 9-1 with their lone loss being to Marion Franklin week 9.

Re: 2014-REGION 17
I don't understand realignment of regions in a year that they are not supposed to in the middle of the season because one school (Brookhaven) closes down and others claim that they have lost enrollment. There has to be more than this.
If they claim Eastmoor lost enough kids to justify a move to D5 from D3 what about the other schools already in the region? How many in Region 17 now would possibly be D6 now if they were recounted? With division 6 being the much easier division? If they recount some they should do them all or leave it alone.
This probably has a lot to do with the logjam they had in D3 region 9. Now they all can make the playoffs.

This all stems from the enrollment scandal in the Columbus City School district.
Re: 2014-REGION 17
I am sure there have been communities in Ohio with businesses closing or opening that their enrollment numbers have changed enough to move them a division since the last count. I agree with Westfan....either do a complete recount or leave it alone. The next count is coming up this fall anyway. Even with the competitive balance referendum, you can't move more than 1 division at a time, so why do this partial recound of a couple schools?
