LOGAN — Nearly a half-dozen transfer students are now eligible to play under the Friday night lights for the Chiefs. They are Kaleb McKinnis (uniform No. 3), a 6-0, 185-pound senior; his younger brother Kody McKinnis (No. 6), a 5-9, 150-pound junior; Josh Banik (No. 57), a 6-0, 225-pound senior; Aaron Banik (No. 72), a 6-3, 315-pound sophomore, and Tyler Blount (No. 84), a 5-9, 165-pound sophomore.
They transferred to Logan High School just prior to the season but were not immediately eligible due to OHSAA transfer rules which state that, once an athlete has declared eligibility as a freshman, and then transfers, he/she must sit out 50 percent of the scheduled games. That rule was changed last spring. Previously, a transfer student had to sit out a complete season before becoming eligible as an athlete.
Now that the season has reached its midway point, all five became eligible for varsity play on Monday. All were permitted to practice but could not play in a varsity game until this week.

Not sure why anyone would want to transfer in. Logan is sorry this year.javagt wrote:LOGAN — Nearly a half-dozen transfer students are now eligible to play under the Friday night lights for the Chiefs. Hard to say. Hard for me to believe it will be a big impact. Although they've been practicing, it will be hard to be able to come in and play at game speed right away. Would think that at best you'll see a couple start to be sprinkled in this week and next week and maybe they could make an impact for the last few weeks.
I think maybe Kaleb McKinnis could step in and play some running back and linebacker. Not sure what the linemen have, but Logan could use some help for depth on the lines.

Might be that they have a better chance to play where they wouldn't at a bigger schoolkoondoger wrote:Not sure why anyone would want to transfer in. Oops !! The Chiefs kick Portsmouth 54-27 and this game wasn't close. Guess the peanut gallery might be embarrassed. Thats another win and more important, opens the SEOAL with a big win. Fair warning, Logan opened with a schedule that would eat everyone of the SEOAL teams. They didn't lose to easy teams. They have had the TOUGH part of their schedule. The easier part is now !! Here comes Logan !!!!!!!!!!!!
Congrats to the Chiefs !

He who laughs last laughs best, Trenchfoot. Most of SEO knows very little about football. I see it posted here everyday. The Chiefs will challenge. This was too easy a game to call but most of SEO blew it picking Portsmouth. The game was a blowout win for Logan. They will match up well with most of the league. It ain't over till the fat lady sings .....................
