Pens break open a tight 1-1 game early in the 3rd with 2 quick goals that looked to seal the deal but the Rangers battle back to tie it with a power play goal with less than 2 minutes to play.

Nobody can find the net in the shootout until the Pens last shooter, Brandon Sutter, goes 5 hole on Lundqvist for the game winner.

"HE WENT RIGHT DOWN BROADWAY AND THEN SOME!!!"

Pens have won 5 straight and are 10-1-1 in their last 12.

All this without the service of defensemen LeTang, Scuderi, Martin and Orpik on the IR along with Malkin and defensemen Engelland serving a 5 game suspension. The baby Pens are playing well in their callups from Wilkes-Barre.

Pittsburgh plays host to the Wild tonight.

Pens sign backup goalie Zackoff to a 2 year contract extension. He started the season 0-2 but has won his last 6 games with a 1.5 GAA and a .944 save percentage.

I agree, bad game all around. Blue Jackets can and will rise up and beat a good team on occasion, but can't do it ever night.

I really thought this was a very chippy game that was border line over the line by Columbus on their style of play. I expect there will be some paybacks by the Pens the next time these 2 teams meet.

Still, tip your cap to the Jackets.

On a side note, my daughter got myself and the family tickets to the Pens vs BlueJackets game on March 28th in C-town Can't wait!!!

My bad. Watched them play the Sens and tried to type about it while thinking about going to Columbus to watch the Pens play in person. I guess I don't compartmentalize things like I used to. Lol.

Anyway, lost another to an injury. Not good. Hope the baby Pens can keep sending quality players our way.

Kind of reminds me of how the Pirates used the farm system this past year in bringing up who could help vs certain teams and series.

Both teams combined for 7 goals in the second as the Pens still found themselves down 5-4 after two.

Neal gets 2 goals and Malkin returns to the lineup and also nets 2.

Niskanen gets the game winner and Fleury makes 3 point blank saves "He took the heat out of a hot kithen!" at the 2:30 mark of the 3rd to save the victory.

Pens "take-off" to the Great White North to face those hoseheads in Vancouver, Edmonton and Calgary in the great northern road swing this week.

Pens grab an early 2-0 lead and appear to be on cruise control until the Canucks score 4 straight, including 2 goals just 17 seconds apart late in the 3rd in what would seem to be the game winners.

However, the Pens score 2 goals just 16 seconds apart with 1:11 left in the 3rd (Letang) and 0:55 left (Crosby) to force OT.

Fleury regains his form and is a wall in OT and the SO.

Crosby scores the only goal in the shootout for the game winner.

The great northwestern road swing continues Friday night in Edmonton.

Pens lead 2-0 after 2 periods but the Oilers tie it up in the 3rd.

Less than 2 minutes after the Oilers tie it, the Pens get the lead back only to have the Oilers score with 1:59 left to force OT.

Oilers score on the powerplay 1 minute into OT to win it.
