Early Look at SCOL-Boys-2016

Post by noreply66 »

Wilmington

Only real weak spots for Wilmington looks to be the high jump and 200 meters. Relays points will be from the 5th place on down. Field event should play out the same way as the relays. Hurdles will be average. 800 looks to be the strongest of the longer races.

Washington C.H.

High jump looks to be the only real problem for this team. Should score in all other events. 4x1 and 4x200 will be the strongest relay teams with a good shot of winning both. Three of the field events should be strong. Could be four events where point will be low. WCH should be in the running for the championship.

Miami Trace

Right off it looks like Trace has talent but they might lack depth to stay with the top teams. 4x800 and 4x400 look good but the other two relay teams are in the bottom four. Field event are down. Hurdles need help. 800,1600 and 3200 look good. Trace should finish in the top four.

McClain

This team will score in most of the event come league time. The 400, Long jump, high jump, 800, look to be the big point events. The 1600, 3200 and discus need help. 4x100 will be their best relay team. 4x400 and 4x800 will need some work. Hurdlers will need to step up. With some hard work McClain can make the top four.

Hillsboro

Hillsboro will be a a good team this year. Should perform well at any meet. Relay teams look good. Field events look average to good. 500, 1600 and 3200 will be near the top in the SCOL. Hurdle look real good. 100 and 200 look better than average but might be hurting in the 400. The 110, 300 will be the events where the big points will come from. The 400, shot put will struggle during most meets.

East Clinton

Clinton will struggle all year. Could score in 10 events at the league meet but points will come from the bottom four places.
Discus might be their best event. Relays will bring in points at most meets but will be lower points. Should pick up points in the hurdles. Might have big problems getting out of the SCOL basement.

Clinton Massie

Massie will have a better than average team where they could score in about every event. Field events are not the best with the long jump looking the best and discus could suffer the most. Relays will be in the middle of the pack come league time. Hurdles team is average.Sprint might be better than they look. Come the league meet I don't see them pushing the top two teams.

Chillicothe

The Cavs might be hurting this year. The relay teams are below average with the 4x200 looking the best.Shot put and discus look solid. Might struggle in the Long jump and Pole vault. Hurdles will be down for the first time in about four years.400 looks to be the best in the sprints. Doesn't look to be too good in the 800, 1600 or 3200. With Chillicothe you don't no what new boys will show up come track season.

The Finish

The SCOL meet will be a 3 part meet this year. The first third of this meet will see Hillsboro going out fast. With WCH hanging close they should start coming back around the 7th event and take the lead over the next five events. With the 3200 and 4x400 to go these two team will only be a few points apart at the most. Hillsboro should score the most point in the two events to take a 10 point victory.

A note here....I found it a little hard to get depth info on a few team plus i had a list of middle school kids but no grade info so I didn't consider in coming freshman.

McClain had a talented JH group coming up. Most of the event winners at MS SCOL were 8th graders. Washington has a few that will contribute as does Hillsboro and Massie. Not sure about rest of league.
