I know this is premature but do you guys see this team being able to go undefeated through the regular season? They still have several tough games against ODU, Cedarville and Cardinal Stritch but they have also been dispatching team after team rather handily.

Would love to be a #1 seed this year in Sioux City.

Go Bears

Don't forget about their games against Campbellsville (ranked 13th in NAIA DI) and Union (ranked 21st in NAIA DII) after Christmas.

Speaking of Babione, she earned AMC Player of the Week after averaging 21.5 ppg. and 16 rpg. during their two games in Florida. Congratulations to her!

Two very entertaining games. Rio Grande wins a close one over Union 75-70. SSU vs. Campbellsville was less suspenseful, but still a lot of fun to watch. Six players reach double figures led by Mallory Albers with a career high 28 points as they hammered CU 106-58.

When is the next game at home that will be a challenge? I went down to watch the Union game. The Lady Bears were quite impressive and their was a good crowd for an weekday afternoon.

The girl's opened conference play today with a 106-56 win at Carlow. That's the seventh time they've reached the 100 point mark this season! As for your question a_c_m, most of the tough games the Lady Bears have left (Rio Grande, Cedarville, Ohio Dominican, Daemen) are on the road. The two best teams they have left at home are Walsh on 1/17/2009 and Mount Vernon Nazarene on 2-3-2009.

SSU set a school record, scoring 126 points tonight against Wilberforce. They shot 60% from the field and close to that from beyond the arc. They were 95% from the free throw line. That's some good shootin'!

Congratulations on the 17-0 start, and the 8th game with 100-plus!

This team has been putting up some ridiculous numbers all year. They lead the country in scoring (93 ppg.), scoring margin (beating opponents by 32 ppg.), and FG% (48%). They need to find a couple more girls who can shoot it from outside though because they're really struggling from three point range. They fall all the way to 2nd in the country shooting 41% from beyond the arc. Their defense ain't too shabby either. They're 32nd in the country in scoring defense (60 ppg.) and 5th in FG% defense allowing opponents to shoot only 33% from the field.

I don't understand how SSU doesn't get a single vote for No. 1? They've beaten two teams currently ranked in the Top 25. Three counting NAIA DI Campbellsville. Plus four more (Cedarville, St. Francis IN, Cardinal Stritch, and Union) who were ranked at the time they played. And they're not just beating teams, they're throttling them. I'd really like to see Morningside play because they must be very good.

Well a lot of things might contribute to that one. Morningside is the NAIA's poster child. The national tournament is in Sioux City along with Morningside College so they always have to keep them happy along with Northwestern (IA). You will always find those teams at the top. They are great teams and are probably deserving of most of the credit they give them, but they will always get the benefit of the doubt. If you look at last years bracket the top 4 seeds were- Ozarks (MO), Bethel (IU) Morningside, and Northwestern along with Hastings (NE) as a 2 seed. They set it up for the Great Plains area to be in the finals. That being said, I think this years team is in a great position and should be set up for the #2 overall seed unless Morningside stumbles.

Big weekend!

GO BEARS!
