I had to laugh when the OHSAA tweeted out that this will be Africentric's first State Championship appearance lol maybe just don't mention that since they clearly played (and won) in 2005.

They took down South Webster in The Regional Finals that year. My nephew was a senior and started on the 04 and 05 teams. Bad taste caused by that Game and the following “discovery” by the OHSAA.
It’s one of the reasons why when Waginger moved in that South Webster didn’t care at all to hear the “transfer” chatter. People love to point out the transfer stuff — taking shots is what I call it —- You watch a group play together for 2 years and get defeated by 20 in the Regional Finals by a school who was in its first few years of infancy with D1 players and you don’t care one bit when you get a transfer.

Wow. OHSAA should seriously consider moving State Tourney back to St. John Arena with numbers like that...would at least be a decent atmosphere at St. John. People are sick of watching private schools loaded up with mercenaries running every division.*

This year in D3 the public school was as complicit as the 3 private schools. So it was bad all the way around.

Live by the three, die by the three. They shoot like that against Burg it’s a different ball game.

Maybe. But, a contested 3 is a lot tougher than an open 3.yabbadabbadoo wrote: Thu Mar 22, 2018 10:35 pmLive by the three, die by the three. They shoot like that against Burg it’s a different ball game.

You sure no one cares about the transfers around here??? It seemed to take over the Burg-Harvest Prep thread.

Re: State Tournament 2018
Ohio is going to have to figure something out. It used to be public vs private at the D1 level and the D1 schools are better equipped to compete. The Columbus Wehrle and CAPE eras came and went fairly quickly but they showed the model and others have come along in such a great magnitude that it is overwhelming. It makes the people at Newark Catholic shake their heads.....

True, still don’t know why Burg didn’t don’t go to the 1-3-1 matchup zone they played against LC and Piketon. It was obvious Burg had business trying to play HP man to man.

I have never said a word about Wheelersburg or their transfers. I found it funny that a few of you seemed to just take notice of Harvest Prep or schools like them when we have been dealing with them for what seems like forever in D4. But, the kids who choose to attend Wheelersburg or wherever —- that is their and their families decision.

I never singled you out that you said anything about Burg. Even with the two players a Burg got in they still couldn’t hang with HP. Take away Holden’s great game and it’s even worse.
SEO teams can not put enough talent on the floor to compete with teams that get transfers in around Columbus, Cncinnati and Cleveland.

Re: State Tournament 2018
I graduated from Burg
. That might make me a little different than most here in The Village.
And, my memory says that our first great team made a name for itself by defeating Columbus St Charles in the Regional Semis and our 3rd great team lost to Akron St Vincent St Mary in the State Finals.... so it’s more or less the same thing.
