Re: 1989 Football Season
Was 89 the year of the bad drought. We had one firecracker that we just had to let off the fuse didn’t burn the night before. We agrivated dad so bad until he lit it. It went up 10 feet and made a bead line straight to the wheat field. if it weren’t for my uncle being home and grabbing a shovel by the time we got up there it was about the size of a baseball infield shooting flames 50ft in the air. Remember the big red Honda 3 wheeler we bucketed water out of a pool that we just got done putting up. I will never forget that year ever.

Yes it was a bad one dirt was like concrete. That’s was the driest I have ever seen it! Surprised you didn’t lose the ball in a crack in the ground.Ironman92 wrote: Sun Dec 30, 2018 11:18 pmI bladed a pitching wedge about 500 yards whatever year that drought wasallamericanironman wrote: Sun Dec 30, 2018 11:03 pm Was 89 the year of the bad drought. West was really good that year too. Lost close to Ironton and Wheelersburg, but didn't make the playoffs because they only took 4.

Coal Grove lost to the Burg close that year

Waverly made the playoffs for the first time in program history and played CAPE

I can’t remember if it was the ‘89 season or the 90 season...Green went 10-0 both years and I was 11 in ‘89, Green was supposed to play Shadyside but seems like it was cancelled due to a flood in Shadyside.

Re: 1989 Football Season
That is correct. However, that game was at Wellston. The last Wellston win at Jackson was 1989.
Re: 1989 Football Season
You guys are lucky I didn’t play or, well it would’ve been the same result lol. Jackson had a mess of sophomores and juniors that went on to have nice careers at small colleges. Sophomore QB Michael Morgan was back up QB for 3 years at D2 Ferris St that made elite 8 all 3 years and final 4 once I believe.
Where did Buescher and Martin go to school?
