Richard Guimond named Athens next AD

The Athens BOE approved the hire at the June 27th board meeting.

Richard Guimond signed a 1-year deal.

Athens for former assistant principal Chad Springer was promoted to principal and former athletic director John Rogers was promoted to assistant principal. Former principal David Hanning is now the new Superintendent at Federal Hocking.

Marietta High School Principal Chad Rinard said Guimond has been the athletic director for the district for 12 years. Before that, he was a special education teacher and a cross-country coach.

(Marietta) Superintendent Will Hampton said that Guimond’s accomplishments include state and national certifications, and athletic director of the Year for the southeast district in 2015.
