Re: WK1 New Lexington v Fairfield Union
FU has 29 kids out, which is crazy to me. Heard good things a out the coaches so not sure what is up with numbers. Boys soccer has unusually low numbers this season as well. Girls soccer has nearly 40 girls out tho.
I saw they lost to Sheridan 49-0 in last weeks jamboree game. I'd just guess, after hearing how scrimmages went, that new lex takes this game going away.

I talked to a couple parents from FU that I know at Roosters last weekend. The coaching staff is facing two challenges: the junior high numbers have been low for a while and fewer kids come up and stick with the program, and the general lack of numbers in the first place are making other kids and their parents reluctant to sign up. Another smaller issue is for many years FU would always have 6-7 kids that otherwise would be playing at FC (like if they went to St. Mary’s/St. B’s), but this year they have none of those kids at all - they’re all at FC. Not too significant, but 35 is better than 29 when you’re a middle class D4 like FU.Falcon01 wrote: Tue Aug 27, 2019 11:29 am FU has 29 kids out, which is crazy to me. Good stuff. I saw today the JH team this year is combined and didnt look like many playing on that squad either. Hard to blame some parents or kids though when numbers are so low for not coming out. Especially if it meant playing a position you aren't necessarily the right size to be playing. Stinks for the community though. Field and facilities are nice, wish they could put a good football product on it. Guess we will just lean on our soccer programs to keep getting the field wins.formerfcfan wrote: Tue Aug 27, 2019 8:57 pmI talked to a couple parents from FU that I know at Roosters last weekend.
