SEO Wk#12: 0-4 tonight, 4 games tomorrow
Sounds like Fort Frye and Trimble had very even matchups tonight and lost heartbreakers with Jackson and Southeastern not so much in their games. I think Ironton will win easily tomorrow and Waverly has a favorable matchup and will win a close one. I'm going to the Burg game tomorrow but think Wood pulls away in the 2nd half and Prep is way to much for H2O'ford. I'll root for SEO teams in the playoffs every year but I'm also a realist. I've always thought SEO teams as a whole don't mix the run/pass enough on offense which has hurt them in a lot of playoff games over the years even though a lot of them had great defenses but we all know you can't play defense all night long. I went to the Alder/Jackson game tonight and they had a very good mixture of slants, flats, sidelines and flag patterns to go with their traps and counters and executed them very well to keep Jackson on defense most of the night. Covington used the run against Southeastern tonight and ate a lot of clock but can and will probably throw a lot more next week when they play Mechanicsburg who has a good run defense. It's all a matter of matchups and being able to adjust. Just my thoughts

I agree with what you say, especially about mixing the run/pass. Just because you make the playoffs doesn't mean that all of a sudden you can implement the passing game into your offense. When you run a balanced offense, the element of surprise when throwing the ball, is normally what makes the passing game so successful. Also, you can be a very good defensive team against the run throughout the year, but if you don't practice against your own team throughout the season, and in fact face a balanced offense, you can be told 100 times what is coming your way, and yet you will be ill prepared to be able to be successful. When everyone in the stadium knows that you are going to pass, or that you have to pass, I'll just leave it at that.FANOSPORTS wrote: Fri Nov 15, 2019 11:28 pm Sounds like Fort Frye and Trimble had very even matchups tonight and lost heartbreakers with Jackson and Southeastern not so much in their games. West Jeff, Mechanicsburg, Fairbanks, Marysville, Dublin and Hilliard all border the Alder school district and many of these teams are in the playoffs yearly. Not much recruiting going on out on the West side of Darby Creek along Three Mile Creek.

Yes they recruit. Most schools in this area don’t recruit. If two players went to Trimble, Moore and Wilburn, they would walk to a state title. But it’s legal to pull from multiple school districts

Also Ohsaa sucking at counting enrollment is a big problem. Trimble graduates 20 less kids than Marion Local but Trimble is D6 and Marion Local is D7. I never understood why they count kids before school even starts. It should be 1st day enrollment

Well, Burg and Waverly go down hard tonight and H2O'ford kept it closer than I thought. Ironton did what I thought they would but it's gonna be difficult next week. Ridgewood kids aren't an overall big team but my goodness, their technique and fundamentals were outstanding tonight as that's the first time I've seen them play.

Agreed, I'm not sure they matched Burgs speed to a man but they were always in position to make a play.FANOSPORTS wrote: Sat Nov 16, 2019 10:22 pm Well, Burg and Waverly go down hard tonight and H2O'ford kept it closer than I thought.
