Re: Big Ten Invites Four!
If an ACC team joins the Big Ten, I would pick Maryland as the front runner. Maryland could bring the Baltimore and DC markets to the Big Ten Network.
I don't have Maryland in my top 5 if the conference goes to 16 teams, but I do have Maryland as my number one dark horse candidate in this expansion.

Re: Big Ten Invites Four!
This isn't about basketball. It's solely about football. If a program comes to the big 10, then it must realize they
are only getting the invite based on their level of play, or their TV market.
Personally I would like to have Nebraska in, they travel well, and have crazy fans
on the level of Buckeyes, something that very few schools including most in the
Big 10 can currently offer.
Other than that, I'll wait until after the Big 10 actually does something
instead of posting new threads every time some nut job AM radio host mentions the
prospect of his market moving to the Big 10.

Re: Big Ten Invites Four!
The point is that we are continually getting worked up over every little thing that
comes down the pike from some wack job sports radio host or local beat writer.
The Big 10 has never done anything official yet, and no amount of speculation on our
part can influence what they do.
So why not just wait and see who the Big 10 ACTUALLY invites, and who accepts, then
we can beat that horse until it's glue!!!
Right now we're just talking about crap that hasn't happened.

Re: Big Ten Invites Four!
Each Big Ten school receives $22 million from their media deals, ESPN, Big Ten Network etc.
What school wouldn't want a part of this? The question is, will some of the current Big Ten AD's demand that new schools buy their way in to compensate the current schools losing money once the new schools join and until the old contracts expire and new ones are struck?
When this does happen, look for a eastern market school to be included. Right now my money is on Rutgers, Missouri and Nebraska as virtual locks to get invites in the near future.
Big 12 commissioner Dan Beebe has said that when the Big 12 holds it's spring meeting in 3 weeks, they will be having frank talks surrounding expansion and how other conferences expansion could effect their membership.

Florida States AD has said that the SEC has talked to him about leaving the ACC. Don't be surprised if the U hasn't had a conversation or 2 with the SEC. Boise State is leaving the WAC for the MWC.....Things are getting interesting..This should be fun until it all gets worked out.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- FINALLY SOMEBODY ECHOING MY THOUGHTS WHY DA HECK NOT CINCINATTI. AND THEY WOULD COMPETE WELL IN ALL SPORTS , IT SHOULD BE THEIR FIRST CHIOCE BESIDES NOTRE DAME.Just_A_Fan wrote:Heard something about on espn radio, I personaly dont like Missiouri and Nebraska joining the the big ten. They really only need to add three teams and make it a 14 team conf. ND should join along with Rutgers, and add Cinncy. Which I dont think they would add Cincy cause the big ten is tryin to expand there market and well they already have that area coved.

Re: Big Ten Invites Four!
if nothing changes, the big ten needs to change it's format to where every big ten team plays every big ten team, thats ten games every year, without avoiding anybody. then 2/3 nonconference games. big ten teams can run the table without playing whoever is the toughest team in the big ten each year if the schedule falls right. avoid a wisconsin, ohio state, iowa, or penn state and run the table in the league, you may not play the toughest big ten team, and get the better bowl game, possibly the bcs championship game.

Re: Big Ten Invites Four!
The Big Ten needs market expansion.
The football facilities at UC are not addequate for Big 10 play,
also, not a chance OSU lets UC into the conference.

Re: Big Ten Invites Four!
I think OSU is alittle scared of adding Cincy, would have to compete with another Ohio school. Yes i know OSU has all of the history and whatever. And that Cincy is in the Big East, but theres a diff if they would add Cincy to the Big Ten. Cause right now with Cincy being in another conf. OSU fans manily can say that they are THE top school in Ohio. But if the Big Ten would add Cincy they both would prob be in the same division and prob would lose to them some years. Which IMO would add another pretty good rivial in college football. And OSU beeing doesn't have a real instate rivial makes it that much more appealing for the Big Ten to add Cincy to the conf.

i'd love to see it, but it is true about the football facilities, but they could play at paul brown stadium, if the city would allow it. otherwise the football stadium is too small. never thought of that.

Re: Big Ten Invites Four!
I'VE BEEN SAYING THIS ON HERE SINCE 2005, AND YOU KNOW THAT, I'M TIRED OF SEEING THE BUCKS DONE 2/3 WEEKS EARLIER THAN THOSE CONFERENCES WITH CHAMPIONSHIPS. I STILL THINK NOTRE DAME IS THE BEST OVERALL FIT, GEOGRAPHICALLY, EDUCATION, SPORTS TRADITION, STADIUM SIZES. AND THEY ARE SMACK DAB IN THE MIDDLE OF THE BIG TEN. START THE SEASON A WEEK LATER, THEN HAVE A CONFERENCE CHAMPIONSHIP. 2 WEEKS AFTER LAST REGULAR SEASON GAME, NOBODY FORGETS YOUR NAMES IN THE POLLS, BECAUSE YOU ARE IDLE. YOU HEARD IT HERE FIRST.

Bait, I hear Ya but Notre Dame ain't coming to the Big Ten. And it is to there own demise. They cannot continue to be independent in the new collegiate landscape but they will hold out until the last and then the offerings for them will be slim.

If they don't join the big 10 then they will be left with joining the big 12 or the SEC will snatch them up just to say they have ND!!!!

They will be lucky if there is a Big 12. If somehow Missouri and Nebraska join the Big Ten, it will set the dominoes in motion. The SEC may expand, The ACC may take on other members, The PAC 10 is already out there looking at options. Texas and Oklahoma will not be content playing Iowa State, Oklahoma State, Texas A&M and Baylor. No juice there. They will move.
