Lane Ruby & Payton Shoemaker - Teammates

Post by se-alum »

Both have committed to Indiana Wesleyan. That's a lot of SEO rushing yards on the same team! Probably worth some road trips to catch a few games!

IWU is a great university. Top tier athletic program and one of if not the top private school in midwest. New football program is only a couple years old. It has been great watching Ruby run track and I expect he could do that at IWU. This is a great “get” for the Wildcats. good luck to both kids

Congratulations to both young men. Had the pleasure of taking in an IWU game this fall, Piketon Alum Gabe Birkhimer is a jr. Beautiful campus, and the facilities are top notch!

Yeah I heard about this a couple weeks ago that IWU brought both of these young men in. Very impressive when you consider these were 2 of the top players within their division in the state. Size simply kept them from going to a larger school. Ruby has been clocked at 4.39 I believe and I've heard Shoemaker put down a 4.56 awesome job by both of these young men and should make life amazing for the OC at IWU. Nice job in recruiting and good luck going forward to these 2 young men.

You’re going to laugh, but IWU recruited Ruby for defense. Doesn’t mean he won’t touch the ball on special teams or get snaps at offense, but they recruited him for defense.

Well.....I've never been overly impressed with Lane in terms of his defensive play but I'm sure a lot of that had to do resting a bit for offense. We'll see if that sticks but given what type of player he is with the ball in his hands it would be tough to not use him on the offensive side of the ball. Then again I have no idea who else they've brought in and maybe that's where they view him at as being able to play right away.
