Southern Ohio Student/Athlete Transfers (FACTS ONLY)
Southern Ohio Student/Athlete Transfers (FACTS ONLY)
The water cooler talk is heavy with stories about kids changing schools like their underwear. Is there any true news of transfers around the area?

Won't matter much this year, who, or how many did anyways.
Re: Southern Ohio Student/Athlete Transfers (FACTS ONLY)
Yeah this is never a good topic as ppl start singling out kids, which is never good. Then to say facts only on a discussion board is such a stretch.Orange and Brown wrote: Tue Jul 14, 2020 7:12 pm I'm not a fan of these kinds of topics. Tread lightly or it will get removed.

Typically started by someone who has information on something but want to try to verify or spread negative information on a topic such as this. I mean saying I've heard this about kids transferring, can others confirm player transfers says it all.
Re: Southern Ohio Student/Athlete Transfers (FACTS ONLY)
Probably true. No, I'm just an old fart who is trying to understand the new normal of interscholastic sports. I hear things that I know wouldn't have been allowed in years past, but seem to be the norm nowadays. If any moderators feel it necessary to delete this, feel free to do so. I have tough skin and won't be upset.greygoose wrote: Wed Jul 15, 2020 8:51 am Typically started by someone who has information on something but want to try to verify or spread negative information on a topic such as this. In normal years it's not but this year some schools will not play football. If Athens cancels, can Athens players play for Trimble

But isn’t there a sit out period if one transfers after a certain date ?

You don't have to sit out if your school doesn't offer the sport

What’s the deadline date for a transfer to make the switch without having to sit ?

Yes. They have to move from District ‘A’ to District ‘B.’countywide35 wrote: Wed Jul 15, 2020 10:21 pmformerfcfan wrote: Wed Jul 15, 2020 6:37 pmOHSAA says that they do if they don’t move into the new district.Raider6309 wrote: Wed Jul 15, 2020 5:37 pm You don't have to sit out if your school doesn't offer the sport

So if a district drops a sports.
A family can move into another district that does offer the sport
The student/athlete immediately gets to play ??

Re: Southern Ohio Student/Athlete Transfers (FACTS ONLY)
OHSAA has to declare them eligible just like any other transfer (standard procedure), but yes.countywide35 wrote: Thu Jul 16, 2020 12:58 am So if a district drops a sports.

When a district in my county announced they were not fielding football, students who played for that district’s team that open-enrolled into the next district over and played football (without moving) were required to sit half of the season.

but if they moved they wouldn’t have to sit ? Or they would have to sit till the OHSAA approves the move??

Re: Southern Ohio Student/Athlete Transfers (FACTS ONLY)
They have to sit until the paperwork is complete. Normally this is a quick process, but with limited personnel working at OHSAA, it could be a while.countywide35 wrote: Thu Jul 16, 2020 1:39 amformerfcfan wrote: Thu Jul 16, 2020 1:03 amOHSAA has to declare them eligible just like any other transfer (standard procedure), but yes.countywide35 wrote: Thu Jul 16, 2020 12:58 am So if a district drops a sports.
