Athens County Football Programs
I've been HEARING that Alexander and Athens canceled their football seasons. I've tried to find something about this online, but can't seem to find anything. Alexander's school page just says athletic activities suspended until July 27th.
Does anybody have any confirmation on this news? I'm not trying to spread a rumor, more just trying to get some clarification!

Haven’t seen anything written by Kevin Wiseman (Athens Messenger) or in his Twitter.

Re: Athens County Football Programs
Coach Deans son Nathan is on our staff at NY and he said today they they just suspended activities until the 27th.
Ive heard a lot of talk about Athens shutting down fall sports. My guess is we will find out tonight because they have a board meeting.

Re: Athens County Football Programs
This section has the answer.
The Athens City School District Board of Education approves the Remote Learning Plan for the
2020-2021 school year as presented and supports the Superintendent's recommendation to plan for
and implement remote learning for all students for the first semester of the 2020-2021 school
year. The Board further supports the Superintendent's recommendation to work with the faculty,
staff, and families to create and provide piloted in-person instruction and programming on a
voluntary basis as part of the effort to build up to full in-person instruction when it is safe to do
so. These pilot programs will include athletics, band, and other extracurricular activities, in as much
as they are permitted by the State of Ohio and are held in accordance with safety recommendations
provided by the Ohio High School Athletic Association or equivalent governing authority and
approved by the Athens-City County Health Department. Initial piloting of in-person instruction will
prioritize academically at-risk students, early childhood programming, and MS/HS programming
where students would show benefit in participation in lab or other hands-on activities that are
difficult to replicate in remote learning models. All piloting of in-person educational opportunities will
be subject to safety protocols reviewed and approved by the Athens City-County Health
Department. The Superintendent will discuss with the Board current health conditions, results of
pilot programs, and the District's progress on improving safety protocols at each regular or special
meeting of the Board. As per the approved Remote Learning Plan adopted by the Board of
Education and submitted to the Ohio Department of Education, the Superintendent has full authority
to enforce changes to the times when remote learning is used and may make adjustments to
remote learning based on changes in circumstances and local health conditions at his professional
discretion.

Re: Athens County Football Programs
Was cruising through the THS parking lot and saw some players throwing the ball and running routes. Anyone know who the kid is with the strong arm? Well built kid too. Must be a move in cause there's no way he's a freshman and if they had him last year they hid him well.

Glad to see the boys out and about and preparing for the season.
