Kirtland vs Canfield South Range

Post by Kirtland80 »

Kirtland comes off a win over Garaway 43-6. South Range beat Columbia Crestview 45-29. We eliminated them last year 38-7. Does Range pull the upset, keep it close, or lose by 30+ again? Thoughts

I’m not going to say no this time. Someone told me that last week for the Garaway game tonight and I said no and called it 35-14 Kirtland. Well I was wrong and the clock indeed was ticking

Those Kirtland dudes are on another level. Hopefully we are on a crash course for the rematch.

I hope so. I know all of our fans want to play again because it would be the best matchup even though I and others believe you are probably our biggest threat. If there is one thing I can say about us it’s that we don’t want a “gimme” game. Heck we even tried to schedule Mentor back when teams cancelled on us even though Mentor would probably have beaten us 40-0. We just wanted a challenge basically. Solon and Shaker Heights was the best D1 we could get scheduled at the time. I personally think our first win over Lake Catholic has been our best win so far this season. I myself hope both of us continue to roll on and meet up in Canton and I know others do too. There was nothing but good things said about your team, coach and fans after last years game

I want to see a Kirtland v Ironton rematch so bad, that I’ll get my TV picture settings changed to black-and-white and overlay Sam Spence NFL Films music just for that broadcast. Maybe even start a crowdfund effort to buy both teams leather helmets.

Barring an upset, it looks very likely that will happen. We both should be favored in every game we play. Call me crazy but I’m not sold on Wood. I think Ironton has it easier next week than they did tonight

If it happens, which is more than likely, I just hope both teams are healthy and at 100% and May the best team win

I think so too but honestly I have been expecting a challenge for this region. If we don’t get a challenge, it will be the first time in 3 or 4 years that we haven’t. Usually one team plays us pretty good around this time. I was thinking it would be Garaway tonight but nope

Would be cool to see both Canfield schools get to state. Canfield and South Range will have their work cut out for them this week. I was impressed SR did beat a very physical Poland team

We appreciate that. The admiration is mutual, I assure you of that.

I watched that game last night. Bacon and Versailles was an awesome game! Kiner was the difference in that game. If he couldn’t have played at all, Versailles would have won that. They only lost by 3 even with him playing

Lol thats the problem he plays and any LSU committed player is going to be tough to stop for most D5 teams

A little better team would have beaten them. I know CW and MSML are different divisions than Bacon but Bacon would have lost to either of those 2. Versailles, although a decent team, isn’t the cream of the crop in D5. They are however tough outs because they are a MAC team. Bacon is definitely beatable by a little better team

On a different note, our Mason Sullivan has accounted for 10 TD’s the last 2 game. 9 rushing and 1 passing. Does SR slow him down? Only time will tell

To be fair though, Versailles caused 4 fumbles, just the football gods were smiling on Bacon as Bacon recovered every single one of those 4 fumbles. Had Versailles snatched at least one of those I think they would have won

Bacons RB is tough. Joe Burrow has definitely opened up recruiting for the South in Ohio. Has to be the biggest screw up in OSU history

I agree, he is very tough. One of the best if not the best in the state. It’s a team game though and even Kiner himself doesn’t make them immune to a loss. I watched it. They had some things go their way or Versailles would have won that. The 4 fumbles and recovering every one. He ended up 208 yards on 22 carries but he broke an 80 yard run right off the get go, so after that Versailles pretty much kept him in check with 128 yards the rest of the game. Even the onside kick at the end wasn’t handled by Bacon and bounced off of him when he tried to catch it and somehow Bacon ended up with it anyways. First time Bacon has had to sweat in a game but those games are good for you. The thing that is impressive though, that was a middle tier team in the MAC and Bacon is one of the best in the state (Obviously talking D5.) Those guys have it tough. It’s like playoff time for them all year in that conference
