Unioto 50
Zane Trace 40 a final

...a game that showcased 2 defensive minded teams in the Shermans of Coach Hoops and the Pioneers of Coach Kellough - as fans of the game we got BOTH some excellent offensive periods AND the complimentary defensive gems in periods 2/4 for both teams with the difference the game being the U had the better scoring guard who can also lock you down defensively - Isaac Little ... the pg/scoring guard took over in the scoring column with 7 points in the 3rd to give the U the separation needed to hold off an improving ZT squad .... Little finished with 22 of the Unioto 50 points ... with freshman Tayvion Galloway adding 14 pts /9 in the opening frame including 2 transition dunks ... for ZT soph 6-3 Nalin Robinson led the Pioneers with 14 on the game/9 in the first qtr as the Sherman D held Robinson to 1 fg/5 points the last 3 qtrs ... both teams showed depth with ZT playing 9 and the U going 8 deep ... the U got 2 steals & transition buckets down the stretch from Cameron Debord along with a big trey from Evan Park in the 4th to salt it away ... the U 50 Zane Trace 40 a final ...

I think a lot of people expected us to blow this team out. We watched all the film we had from this season and talking with Isaac he knew this would be a tough game. I don’t care who they put on the court when you have Kellough and Beard on the opposing bench you know the kids will be prepared and they will have a solid game plan to follow and they will play hard.

I like the way Tayvion is progressing so far. He’s only gonna get better. When Little was a freshman he had the good fortune to have Tanner Perdue to lean on and learn from and now Tayvion can lean on Little’s experience and leadership to give him time to mature as he gains the in game experience without the pressures of being “the guy.” That is priceless for a young player in my opinion.

I could go down the list of our top 8-9 guys but every single one of them as important as the next. No egos on this team and everyone is fitting into their roles.

... the U will be reloading - not rebuilding - for the foreseeable future ... the pipeline is full of talent ... looking forward to seeing not only THIS years growth on the court for the U but the influx of youngsters for the next 4-5 years ...

The question is will the Ptown Trojans play a game this year or will they wait until after the New Year?

... I watched the CG game the other night ... thought the Panthers were going to get it done ... got within 3 with about 4 minutes to play then got stuck on 3 for 2 minutes on the clock ... then there was call of block/looked like a charge on CG to me BUT instead it was the 5th foul on Levi Blankenship - made it tough ... Adena has a VERY GOOD starting group - the favorite to win the SVC ... still should be a good game at the Peake ... good luck ! if it's being streamed I'll have it on the puter screen ...

Looks like we are down to a handful of teams that have not played a game in the 2020 portion of the 20-21 season ... Logan, Chillicothe, South Point, and Portsmouth ... I believe Logan's first game is a January 5th matchup with Groveport Madison at home ... Chillicothe? South Point?? Portsmouth???

... haven't read anything from the PHS posters/ I believe they are boycotting SEOPs ... probably will have to read about whether the Trojans are playing on this side of New Year or will be rescheduling those games coming up IN 2021 from other posters outside of the Portsmouth contingent ...

Pfloyd, are you going to have any love for the CG Hornets in the next Elite 8? Lol. They lost to New Boston by 8, had three starters foul out in the fourth, were only down by 2 in the third to fairland and were down 16 when the starters were pulled and then beat Chesapeake. I know it was only a 2 point win but they got up as big as 13. They only have one senior and utilize a multiple sophomore in their top 8 players.

... I watched the NB game - had to be 100 fouls called in that one LOL! ... Watched the Fairland game too and the last quarter of the Chesapeake game ! didn't realize that CG is so young - Matney/Davis are the ONLY seniors - they will be a handful ! I like Coach Vanderhoof - not only an excellent coach BUT an even better person ... had the pleasure of meeting him at the Beasts of the Southeast - good guy who knows how to teach/coach his TEAM ...
