2021 Cincinnati Reds
Re: 2021 Cincinnati Reds
Spring Training record means absolutely nothing. Trying new guys out, letting others get looks they haven’t gotten before, etc.
Pitching is starting off a little rough for our rotation but only for a small time. Our closer will be a committee and Amir Garrett is on fire
I don’t see how people can hate on the lineup we’re gonna put out for Opening Day. When working, it’ll be dangeroussss
Vs RHP
Winker LF
Votto 1B
Castellanos RF
Suarez SS
Moose 3B
Senzel CF
India 2B
Pitcher
Barnhart C
Can’t get much better than that.

Re: 2021 Cincinnati Reds
Love BG10's optimism but the returning bats accounted for the leagues worst offense in the mini 2020 season while the solid pitching of last year is now without two key parts in Bauer and Iglasis. Hopefully the offense improves enough to offest the decline in pitching, but that would make 2021's season ceiling a .500 club. Given what I consider as weak field management, the likelihood of a 90 loss season is present. Hope I am wrong but the Reds and Pirates will bring up the bottom of the NL central. As long as they get the season in, it is all good.

Re: 2021 Cincinnati Reds
It will be a cold opening day . and the pitching is terrible they have 2 starters the bats there is only one way to go thats up from last season.one more thing how fast will the coach hit the hot seat if he would start 2-10 early??? He is not the answer for the reds in coaching.
Re: 2021 Cincinnati Reds
Redbirds 11-6 final. Reds failure in starting pitching, defense, and base running. Bullpen did well and new second baseman Johnathan India went 2 for 4. Suarez and Castallanos homer for the Reds. One game does not make a season, but Cincy just looked unready to open the season and that is on David Bell.

The Reds may not be a contender in 2021, but they may well have developed a second baseman worth watching:

The offense has produced multiple runs in both games thus far. I still don’t see how some of you guys are thinking we won’t contend.. I’m telling ya we can be dangerous this year!! #ATOBTTR
Re: 2021 Cincinnati Reds
The pitching staff which so far has allowed 17 runs in its first two outings and a defense that has coughed up three errors in the first two games are going to need a monster offense for the Reds to contend.BigGuy10 wrote: Sat Apr 03, 2021 7:46 pm The offense has produced multiple runs in both games thus far. But I know the pitching is a question mark. But the rookie at 2nd and right field is killing the ball.571

Nick Castellanos Suspended For Two Games
From USA Today:
Castellanos was suspendedfor his “aggressive actions and for instigating a benches-clearing incident” between his team and the Cardinals Saturday afternoon.
Kind of torn on this one. The old school me supports the traditional "unwritten" rules of baseball. The other part of me saw Castellanos actions lighting a fire in the belly of the Reds, something that has been missing for years.

Re: 2021 Cincinnati Reds
I have coached youth baseball in the past and I always included the "unwritten rules" of baseball in my instruction. Playing the game with honor and respect for tradition is as important as learning the fundamentals of the game. That said, Castellanos' actions did not warrent a suspension, but gave the league an opportunity to send an early message on expected behavior. Also consider that bench clearing is against current covid protocols players and owners have agreed to.

A new guy on the block trying to throw his weight around !!! But the Reds are on
young guns !!!
Re: 2021 Cincinnati Reds
Agreed on the unexpected hot start. I will happily eat crow if the Reds continue to play well. One sobering thought though. The last time the Reds started 5-1 was in 2016. Their record at the end of that season, 68-94.

Here’s a stat to counter that one:Omega wrote: Thu Apr 08, 2021 9:37 am Agreed on the unexpected hot start. I will happily eat crow if the Reds continue to play well. One sobering thought though. The last time the Reds started 5-1 was in 2016. Their record at the end of that season, 68-94.
The Reds just set a franchise record for most runs scored through the first 5 games of the year with 46 (57 through 6), the record they beat was 44. The team to do that was the 1976 World Series Champions
