The U: Kiss Miami Goodbye!
http://sports.yahoo.com/investigations/ ... its_081611
Yahoo sports spent over 100 hours over 11 months interviewing Shapiro, and they just released the article that has Al Golden wishing he was still at Temple!!!
Of course, ESPN has yet to mention anything on their web site! Lol

Re: The U: Kiss Miami Goodbye!
Colin Cowherd actually responded on twitter, he agrees, Miami is screwed!!!
His words, "this is 100x worse than USC or OSU"

Re: The U: Kiss Miami Goodbye!
One of the best things about this...
Willis McGahee was recently whining about how he should be given his national championship ring for 2002 since Ohio State was "cheating". I guess he forgot about the $2,000 in suits, other cash gifts, and rewards he got for his play while at Miami. What a hypocrite!
This seriously makes USC, Ohio State, Oregon, Auburn (for the moment), etc, look like a walk in the park. Miami's football program is DONE.

Re: The U: Kiss Miami Goodbye!
ESPN was nearly 18 hours late on their link, and in the world of instant media today, that's an eternity!
Re: The U: Kiss Miami Goodbye!
Yet it has been reported for days on The Herd, on SVP, on ESPN TV. I don't know what happened to their site, but it was the openeing story this morning on Mike and Mike.
I better get my tinfoil hat because I can already see another conspiracy coming on.

this also reported by Joe Schad today.
Per @mortreport, TPryor's attorney said the QB admitted to NCAA mentor Ted Sarniak gave TP and his mother cash and helped with car payment.

Re: The U: Kiss Miami Goodbye!
This isn't so much of a defense for ESPN as it is for media in general...ESPN was nearly 18 hours late on their link
I wouldn't consider it late. The majority of journalists like to do their own work. Yahoo! did the initial work of interviews, etc. so of course they'll post it first. ESPN and other outlets are not in the blogging business, like sites such as SBNation.com, where you take the article, re-post and add your own commentary. The amount of information that needed confirmed, etc. and the timing of when the Yahoo! article was released is why the ESPN story didn't come out until some time later. It hit last night and I'm sure they had to wait until late last night/early this morning to finish their own investigation and confirmation from sources. It's also why radio shows, commentators, etc. can instantly comment but you won't see an article up until some time after. It's apples and oranges and the expectation that it should be up instantly is somewhat humorous to me personally. In fact ESPN didn't dispatch one of their lead ACC reporters, and ACC Blog lead, Heather Dinich until early this morning.
Edit at 10am: And to further this point (I haven't changed ESPN yet as I want to hear more analysts on this matter) Dana Jacobson just said, "And we don't want to send you to another outlet, but you should read it." And that was my point above. They don't want to link to the Yahoo! story on their site, so they needed to do due diligence and complete it on there own and that takes time - especially considering the time of night when this started to come out.
I thought the comment about how you have to deny information to remain eligible in the NCAA but tell the truth to become eligible in the NFL was quite funny. He's desperate to get in to the supplemental draft and is digging deep to prove he should be. But just that line made me chuckle this morning because of its truth.Per @mortreport, TPryor's attorney said the QB admitted to NCAA mentor Ted Sarniak gave TP and his mother cash and helped with car payment.

Re: The U: Kiss Miami Goodbye!
Ok, my thoughts:
This is bad. Real bad. I've already heard the general public leap to conclusions of "The Death Penalty", and while that is possible, people need to slow down. My initial prediction is that they will get hit with it, but that's just a prediction of the end result and there are a lot of steps before we get to that point.
The biggest issue are the six coaches that had knowledge and/or participated. PARTICIPATED. From what I know and have heard the statute of limitations (four years) will not apply to this situation because of the consistency of the infractions. Also, there is a chance that the NCAA will view Miami as a repeat violator which will qualify them for "The Death Penalty". So, for people just following that storyline they should wait until the NCAA rules on that. The NCAA has been investigating this situation for five months already and will continue naturally. We are still months and months away from any resolution.
Other random thoughts:
Last week I commented to a friend that there was no way FSU was leaving for the SEC. And that was backed up by veteran reporters talking to SEC AD's and confirming that even they couldn't see a way for them to enter (thankfully). But I do wonder that whenever this concludes IF Miami gets "The Death Penalty" how that will effect the SEC/FSU/CLEM dynamic. And not only that but how will the ACC respond? Will they drop Miami and look for a new 12th or potentially 10th team? Not a pressing issue by any stretch but just something I wondered about.
Al Golden. Obviously if there is a death penalty there'll be no job to have there, but even if they do not and only receive severe sanctions I wonder if he and Miami will agree to a mutual termination so he can go elsewhere. I am curious to see how Golden proceeds throughout this process.
These thoughts will most likely change as more information leaks and the NCAA gets to the bottom of it all. And as history tells us we are probably a year from any sort of resolution to this... if not two.
And my two favorite lines from this:
1. Ohio State @ Miami: The Ineligibowl
2. Yahoo! Sports is the SEAL Team 6 of College Football

I would like to see the type of gift packages given out at the "Ineligilbowl" for all of the participating players....LOL

And what's your point? Do you feel entitled to this information? I'm really just asking, not trying to be facetious.Another case of info finally being made public, that the NCAA had already found out.

Not untitled to it, but I fail to see why the info is a big story.ACCBiggz wrote:And what's your point? Do you feel entitled to this information? I'm really just asking, not trying to be facetious.Another case of info finally being made public, that the NCAA had already found out.
So many times during this saga, info has been reported, at times months late, and then sold to the public as NEW issues!
Pryor alledgedly told the NCAA about this in May, the NCAA finished an investigation, notified OSU of no new violations, heard OSU's case, and began the punishment verdict stage in that time! If Pryor told the NCAA in May, the NCAA did not see it as an issue warranting further violation, or they would have notified OSU of this. If the report would have come in May, then great I'd have a different view, but instead it's given headline attention, when it deserves "also ran" back page attention.
It's being sold by the guys who report on CFB at ESPN as new info, and being used to further blacken the eyes of the program.
Re: The U: Kiss Miami Goodbye!
SO why is the NCAA waiting another 12 weeks to make a decision and why is it they were told they are still investigating if this is all old news and everything is done and over with?
@dazed and confused---I guess that makes you feel better now? So you are just scuzzy while MIami is really scuzzy. Not a competition I want to participate in. Congrats on being a little less scuzzy then the really scuzzy school.

Re: The U: Kiss Miami Goodbye!
They were told they are still investigating because the NCAA had to legally cover their butts for when OSU appeals if necessary. They also still have to interview Mr Ellis, which they are doing Thursday morning, and at the time of the notification they had a meeting with Dorian Bell scheduled.
Standard procedure is 6-8 weeks on a decision after the hearing, if they go 8-12, that's not a big deal. Would rather them get it right than rush and make a hurried decision.
