Pretty good game. Costly turnover late by Athens to give Marietta a shot

If Athens lost to a mediocre opponent with10 starters out and another lost due to injury in the game then this season is doomed.

Yeah the Bartlett kid had himself a night. Nothing pretty, three yards and a cloud of dust, but Athens defense had no answer.

Athens offense played their best game in two years after they got their QB and WR back, but it was their run defense and turnovers that let them down. Athens had this game won but couldn't get the score to finish it off and allowed Marietta to force overtime. In overtime, Athens won the toss and went on defense, Marietta continued to run the ball and scored easily, went for two and got it and then Athens fumbled on their first play on a 12-yard run to end the game.

Marrietta ran the ball 63 times 355 yards, avg 5.6 YPC. Marietta running back #23 ran for 43 times 245yards and 5 TD and a 2pt Conv.
