Greatest team ever at your high school
Seems like every year you hear, " This is the best team we've ever had". So question is, is that true or not?
List em, not second or third best.
The best team ever at your school period.

Re: Greatest team ever at your high school
Jackson’s 2015 team made it the furthest in the playoffs in school history. They were 9-1, SEOAL champions, and made it to week 13. But Jackson has had a couple teams go 10-0, league champions, and make it to week 12. They were all really good so it’s hard to tell. I’ve always wanted to see all the great ironmen teams over the years play each other I’m sure they would be some hard hitting games
Re: Greatest team ever at your high school
Jackson Ironmen have had a lot of “really good” football teams. 1996 is my choice

Re: Greatest team ever at your high school
I know they’ve dipped a little bit the past couple years but vinton county basketball has been outstanding the past 15 years probably. Their teams a couple years ago were some of the greatest in school history. 2017 might be their best team of all time.

True, but some teams play tougher competition than others. I know that's how the schedule plays out.Jason Vorhees wrote: Thu Sep 23, 2021 9:56 pm Jackson has had many great teams. Here’s the list of undefeated regular seasons:

Re: Greatest team ever at your high school
Paint Valley has had some great teams with Coach Hollon, a lot of tradition there.
SE 2019 for sure. Undefeated regular season, Gold ball- SVC champs, Div 6 player of the year.
Unioto was state runner ups in basketball.
Had Ben Hartsock in football, not sure how good the team was though....

Re: Greatest team ever at your high school
If we are talking football, Unioto’s is between 1966 and 1967
1966 finished 9-0 and 3rd in the AP poll. They allowed only 16 points and pitched 7 shutouts. However, the schedule was weird, playing Westfall back to back weeks at one point. Still, completely dominated everyone on their schedule.
1967 also finished 9-0, but 10th in the AP poll. A stronger schedule, which reflected in giving up more points (only 8 PPG) but they also scored nearly 40 ppg, which was the best offense in school history
In 1998, Ben Hartsock’s senior season, they finished 8-2 and 5th in the region in the final year of only 4 teams making. But, weren’t remotely close to 4th, after being blown out by Newark Catholic in their big points game. Somehow, they played NC very tightly the next year with a 4 win team.

Re: Greatest team ever at your high school
Played the best of the best around…saw every top pitcher in the area and were only 14-6 to start the tournament….but 1-9 could rake and had very good defense and Jackson was the #6 seed!…coaches paid for that. Traveled to 17-3 South Point for a sectional final and pounded them. Next up was 1st team all state pitcher from Circleville….nah, we had 5 games against better than her and knocked off Circleville. Then district finals and #1 seed 20-3 Warren Local….smacked them. Regional semi won easily and regional final led 2-0 going to bottom of the 6th against Licking Valley and their 6’2 pitcher who graduated a year early to go be the Ace of the Louisville staff…then later to Ohio State. With 1 out and one on we dropped a fairly routine deep fly ball…next girl easy groundout that would’ve ended inning but they had a 2 out rally and handed Jackson a crushing 3-2 loss. Licking Valley won easily in the state semis and then won state championship…..ugh

Both regional finals though. 96 only had 4 teams to playoffs, 2015 had 8…..both great great teamsIronmen34 wrote: Thu Sep 23, 2021 9:26 pm Jackson’s 2015 team made it the furthest in the playoffs in school history. Re: Greatest team ever at your high school
True. 96 and 15 were probably top two in my opinion. I know Jackson had multiple teams in the 90’s that were good. I can’t remember what year, maybe 97, but they were very good and could’ve went 10-0 but got beat by vinton county. And some other recent teams I think about would be 2011, 2014, and 2019.Ironman92 wrote: Thu Sep 23, 2021 11:06 pmBoth regional finals though. 96 only had 4 teams to playoffs, 2015 had 8…..both great great teamsIronmen34 wrote: Thu Sep 23, 2021 9:26 pm Jackson’s 2015 team made it the furthest in the playoffs in school history. 2020-21 Warriors. No question. Greatest team in school history not to mention they played and won one of the greatest football games I have ever seen when they faced off against John Glenn in the playoffs. Gives me chills just thinking about it...
