Gallia Academy 44 Meigs 7 2022
Re: Week 1: Gallia Academy @ Meigs 8/19/22
The offensive coordinator for most of the last 10 to 12 years has been coach Mccellend. One or two years in that time he was defense coordinator. The coordinator hasn't always been the play caller though. There was a period of time, that each week there were plays put in every week to take advantage of certain fronts and tendencies and the majority of practice that week was put in to those plays for the person who called plays on game day to call not one of them all game.

Thank you tvcfanatic. That certainly makes sense ab the HC last season and why the change occurred. It’s hard to find a coach that can check all the boxes but the points you make are shortcomings a HC can’t afford to have. Hope for the kids sake the new coach does a better job.

Svac nailed the OC??? Haven’t heard of any changes for this season. Coach Mac will be in the saddle. Don’t expect a ton of change. Deeper pool to draw from this year. I’m not putting a target on anyones back but barring injury there should be some surprises this year for some fans.

I expect quite a few changes. If not I will be disappointed. I hope we put hat on hat a lot more. And we have running backs who are strong we need to quit giving them the ball going east and west.
For years and I will take this back to beginning of coach eddy tenure are offensive line was undersized. It is why we ran the wing T and it is why we kept that blocking technique forever and would over block the point of attack.
My biggest disappointment the last couple of years has been we now have size and we have had these big strong kids finesse blocking. If we really let them just blow off the ball we are going to create some mismatches. And make teams load the box. Or occupy a linebacker.
We have a QB with the closest set of skills since we had Justin mccellend to be a dual threat. When we do a RPO we need him to want to throw on instinct not run.
Like I said I would of chose for coach to stay the same. But we have made the change so the change should be seen.
Remember coach Mccellend took the wing t that coach Rife couldn’t get off the ground and used the passing formations off of it to make that offense in 2011 and 2012. 2013 was coach barts offense and coach MAC defense. 2014 coach rife head coach and offensive coordinator. MAC defense. 2015 and 2016 coach rife head coach coach MAC offensive coordinator and who put game plan in every week coach rife called plays a disaster.
2017 and 2018 coach Penrod head coach his offense coach MAC coordinator and play caller. Even though Statue of Liberty play to beat ironton called by coach Penrod. 2019 and 2020 the QB strengths were not fit to the skill set of rest of team. Kid was a drop back passer on a team who could not pass block.
2021 I understand a lot of people disappointed but if you really take out a couple of snaps in point pleasant game and Covid not hitting team I really think they would of been no worse then 7-3.
Hopefully everything matches strength of players and we are successful and have a great season.
My fear and I already heard it today at the fair. Kids worrying about how many touches they are going to get not worrying about what is best for the team. In that atmosphere doesn’t change those penalties won’t go away.

Someone said Meigs "manhandled" Fairland. So, does that mean Meigs is better than expected or does it mean Fairland isn't as good as expected? If Meigs manhandled Fairland what will they do to Gallia?
