Also do not forget Cameron Kittle from Trimble. He has the opportunity to contribute on special teams for the Buckeyes.

I was reading about Ohio States depth chart and it actually looks like the starting will LBs will be Steele Chambers and Chip Traynaum and then the starting mic LBs are Eichenberg and Simon and on the situational when Knowles utilizes a 3rd LB they decided to go with Teradja Mitchell.countywide35 wrote: Wed Aug 31, 2022 9:28 am Have a few kids from SEO making a showing this opening weekend of CFB and both on prime time TV.

What is No. 2 Ohio State football’s depth chart against No. 5 Notre Dame?
https://cleveland.com/osu/2022/08/what- ... -dame.html
In most of the personnel convos about the defense more recently leading into week 1 vs Notre Dame, when discussing the LBs he hasn't been mentioned.
What most seem to be expecting however is for CJ Hicks to emerge and gain significant minutes.
I'll add I am an Ironton fan before I get accused of trying to down anyone because a fan doesn't like what they read here. I am only sharing factual info without any implied bias. I am rooting for Reid but he might be getting lost in the shuffle in Knowles def scheme that utilizes faster, more athletic LBs and more safeties than LBs. Matter of fact Knowles himself is quoted as EXTREMELY high on Hicks and also about having around 6 safeties he wants to utilize as playmakers. Keep in mind I am not sharing any personal opinions or declarations or related feelings here. Just sharing what I have read and heard from Knowles during his pressers.

I always felt Reid was a better offensive player in High School. Maybe he can look into a TE position, if he gets stuck in the depth chart.THEEE_GAME wrote: Wed Aug 31, 2022 12:20 pmI was reading about Ohio States depth chart and it actually looks like the starting will LBs will be Steele Chambers and Chip Traynaum and then the starting mic LBs are Eichenberg and Simon and on the situational when Knowles utilizes a 3rd LB they decided to go with Teradja Mitchell.countywide35 wrote: Wed Aug 31, 2022 9:28 am Have a few kids from SEO making a showing this opening weekend of CFB and both on prime time TV.

I think going in as a freshman his achillees was his upper body skills and his speed. He was simply able to out athelete most of the comp he seen in d5. This is a big reason why recruits from smaller divisions that are ranked highly are often encouraged to transfer somehwere like IMG Academy so they can grow accustomed to the speed and skill of the game at a P5 level. I tend to agree with you.wobycat wrote: Wed Aug 31, 2022 1:17 pmI always felt Reid was a better offensive player in High School. I would not relegate Mr. Carrico to the dustbin of Ohio State roster footnotes quite yet.THEEE_GAME wrote: Wed Aug 31, 2022 1:20 pmI think going in as a freshman his achillees was his upper body skills and his speed. By all accounts his football acumen, leadership and work effort are highly valued by the Ohio State coaching staff.
That and making positive contributions to a football team's success does not require one to be an all conference performer or even a starter.
Study the Ohio State career of New Boston Glenwood's Ed Thompson. A tad small, a step slow, but he worked his way into a starting role as LB for the Buckeyes back in the mid 70's. Mr. Carrico has such an opportunity before him.

All good points. Reid has a great work ethic and he is a tough kid. My post was related more to what Knowles has disclosed directly thus far. Also it's probably worth noting that they recruit a lot more kids now and from a much wider demographic as opposed to the 70s. That said again, you make a fair point. Another detail though we should mention is the window for a guy to breakout now at this level is a lot smaller imo. If you are not plugged into a major role by 2/3rd year, it becomes a lot less likely. Good post.Omega wrote: Wed Aug 31, 2022 3:51 pmI would not relegate Mr. Carrico to the dustbin of Ohio State roster footnotes quite yet.THEEE_GAME wrote: Wed Aug 31, 2022 1:20 pmI think going in as a freshman his achillees was his upper body skills and his speed. I wish all area kids the best.
There arent too many Burrow type players in the region. Getting a scholly is one thing. Making highlight reels is another.
