Guthrie, Bowers, Whiticker, Baker, Napier, Armstrong All return.

6”5 SF/Guard Freshman Ty Huffman will move up

And you never know Lucas King or Grant Guess could return
I would not expect a 4-star football commit to play basketball next year. They almost all leave high school early their senior year (December)
He’s been told by the coaches who are recruiting him to keep playing. Helps his footwork greatly.
He doesn't have a program or coach yet. We'll see what his college choice says. Very surprised if he plays.

I honestly was surprised he played this year

What we do know
Both Coach Day and Dabo are huge supporters of multiple sport athletes

Yes, huge supporters of multiple sport athletes but not necessarily 4-star recruits who could be on campus and participate immediately in January. Big difference. There may be some who stay in high school through the end of their senior years but not many in recent years.

I hear what you’re saying

Captain Jack played all 4 years in highschool

IMO the HC has no control over what Guthrie decides to do, Only Guthrie and his family control.
I will go as far to say the 1st College HC to tell him they dont want him to play his SR year of BBall will be marked off his list

You might be right but the expectation at schools like Ohio State and Clemson is get here in January and be part of the team. It nay not be fair but if almost every other recruit is there, it can put a player behind a little right from the start.

The shac will have 4 teams playing for a district title Sunday.
Fairfield vs South Webster
North Adams vs Peebles
Manchester vs Notre Dame

North Adams and Peebles are about 9 miles apart but they will make the 90 mile trek to the convo for round 3.

They’re not in Pfloyd’s top 8, which is the title of this thread. They finished at #9.

... not bad as I have Minford, South Webster, Chesapeake, Eastern Pike ... 4 outta my end of season top 10 in SEOhio all still alive going into Friday night's games at the Convo with Minford & Chesapeake putting it on the line to get to the Elite 8 in D5 ... Notre Dame vs South Webster Saturday @ the Convo 6:30p in a Regional Final - SEOhio HAS at least one team going to the Final 4 as it stands now! ... if we can get both Minford & the Peake into Sunday's regional final SEOhio will have 2 teams going to the Final 4 in different divisions we wish the best for Coach Leist and the Eagles vs Monroe Central - playing to get to the Final 4 in D6 @ ODU ... Great time in SEOhio hoops !!!

The 2024-25 season has officially "UN-officially" come to an end with the Final Four Semifinal losses by South Webster & Minford over the weekend (Friday/Saturday) ... great seasons/post season runs by both teams representing the SE district ... things will be winding down - some league all star games being played, the hot topic will be coaches not being renewed/retiring - leaving open the questions "Who WILL BE the coach at ___________?" right now we have Waverly, Fairfield Union both with open head coaching positions ... others will follow - I've heard rumors about as schools will want the new hires in place before the June Summer Hoops season begins - practices/shootouts/super shootouts/summer leagues etc. ... I've spent the last couple of days/evenings going through the napkin stats/games that I have watched this past season ... putting together MY 1st, 2nd, 3rd teams in each division based on how players performed when I had eyes on and/or watched livestreamed games ... went through the divisions came up with my 1st team, 2nd thru 3rd teams in each division (other than D1 & D2 - Logan the only D2 team Below the Lancaster-Dixon Line) ... I'll post those starting tomorrow - hopefully I'll get them all posted the same day ... the by division is done - just not typed up ... I may try to lay out the divisions side by side, choose my Pfloyd All District Team (the best of the best regardless of division) again this would be based on the performances I saw either in-person or livestreamed ... we'll see if the committee of one - me - finds this impossible to do or not LOL ...

... It WAS a great year of hoops Below the Lancaster-Dixon Line !!! I just posted the All Ohio players from Southern/Southeast Ohio yesterday ... I believe there are a few All-Star games still out there to be played ... AAU is up next, then the "summer season" in June ... hoping to get out and about this June to some of the Shoot-outs and Super Shoot-outs ... by June we will have at least 8 or 9 new coaches at the helm of teams across Southern/Southeast Ohio ... the biggys I'm looking for are at Waverly, Fairfield Union, Ironton as those teams have outstanding rosters returning for the 2025-26 season ...will the teams on the river see movement of players from say an Ironton to Fairland or Chesapeake??? ... I like the hire of Coach Howell at Portsmouth Clay - looking forward to NOT having the Panthers on the End Table in the upcoming season - small schools have to wait for the cycle of athletes to come around, with Coach Howell taking the position at Clay - there must be a couple or more classes coming through that hold promise ... I believe Clay made the trip to the Shootout in the Hills at Logan last summer - may be able to catch them then to see what is on the table at CHS ...

... if I'm not mistaken, I believe the state will be shuffling the "counts" again this summer - we may have some schools moving "divisions" before the next regular season comes around ... if I recall correctly Warren was thinking they will be dropping a division - going from D3 to D4 for the upcoming season ... we'll see !!!

... I took a couple of weeks off - found my way to the Keys for awhile to unwind a little bit ... I will begin coming up with my first draft for the Preseason Elite 8 ... the first will be based on what I know NOW before we find out who is playing , who is not playing, who hit the transfer portal ... already we will see Portsmouth West with a full compliment of players for the entire season this coming year as Logan Wolfenbarker will be playing the entire menu of games giving West a really good lineup led by Wolfenbarker (6-4), Will Kegley (6-3) , (6-4) Corbin Miller & Cristian Quirasco (6-1) ... anyway I will be looking at the returning rosters to see where I will start teams in the rankings ...

... coaching changes ... most schools will have supplemental contracts out for their April/May meetings for the next school year - we will probably see more openings at the top coaching positions as we get into April ... we've seen Coach Speed's name kicked around as going to West Virginia ??? ... saw on the "Open Jobs" thread someone mentioned Coach Shoemaker as a possible candidate for the Ironton position??? going to be interesting in the coming weeks for sure ...

... as I've watched basketball in the SE district with "earnest" for the last 25 years (seems longer, but that would be when I started looking at teams, players, coaches as more than a passing fan , I started posting on jjhuddle - so I felt I needed to KNOW what I was talking about) ... this is always the time of year when you say - "Wow ... Who's going to replace this last group of seniors? - Stadelman? Montgomery? Kayser? Roberts? Schweickart? Buchanan? ... the Teams? - Minford? South Webster? Eastern? Warren? Fairland? ... some of these players we watched develop over 4 years or 3 years - they were truly some of the best of the best - you don't replace them ... end of story - they have carved out permanent spots in the annals of Southern Ohio basketball ... what you do is add them to the ever growing list of players we "compare" all of the "up-and-coming" players to as they too begin "making their mark" in Southern Ohio basketball - Kage Alexander, Maddox Kazee, Colben Beucler, Asa Kline, Logan Russell, Bronx Carpenter, Gage Bowers, Landan Owens, Hudson Edwards, Caydon Cox, Griffin Friend, Brady Jajczyk, Carson Stowers, Boston Web, Jack Howland etc. ... then we have the best of the best that are primed to continue their climb, leave their mark - and yes, add themselves to the list of "benchmark" players we compare the newcomers to - Carson Davis, Reed Brinager, Adam Guthrie, Blake Fitch, Noah Haithcock etc. ... then we have the "teams" - which "teams" are going to step up and have the opportunity to carry the torch and represent the SE district in regional/final four play - Do we have a team or teams who have the qualities where WE can say in the preseason that they have chance to get to the Elite 8, Final Four ??? ... usually teams who make THAT claim of being able to "get to the Show" have TEAM - not just one player dominated - relative size, 3 to 4 scorers, a point guard leader on the floor, depth ( at least 6-7 deep off the bench) , today's game dictates perimeter scoring from multiple players to go with role players who can/do step up at both ends and yes you NEED "next level players" that believe in themselves - believing they can play with anyone on the floor ... coaching staff that prepares & motivates ... Do we have a team or teams who have THOSE qualities or can check off as many boxes as possible ??? Chesapeake? Eastern Brown? Fairfield Leesburg? Meigs ? Unioto ? Sheridan? Waverly? Valley ? Symmes Valley? - this past season Minford, South Webster, Meigs were all mentioned in the same sentence as Final Four, state championship - and it wasn't "tongue in cheek" ... after "seeing" what Minford "had" as far as TEAM "makeup" or South Webster , Meigs - are there any teams in the SE District that we can say - they have enough of the boxes checked off that the Final Four is a definite possibility ??? ... so much to think about this off season !!! ... post season preparation starts now - are the best of the best playing AAU competition that gives them a chance to develop the "it" factor - "I'm as good as anyone on the floor" attitude ? ... the best of the best are going to be just that - will these top level players understand that THEY have to develop the incoming role players? - teams are only as good as their weakest link - raising the level of the "weakest link" is a must for TEAM ... going to be a fun off season!!! ... I'm getting psyched for the 2025-26 season that has already started ...

On another site it was stated that Sheridan's head coach isn't staying. Not sure if that can be confirmed or not. Also interested in your take generally on why you believe Sheridan will be a higher ranking team next season. Not arguing they won't, but besides one marquee player do they have the depth?
