All Ohio Honors SouthEast District ...

Post by pfloyd »

... the awards, plaques, lists, team trophies ... it's all come to an end for the 2024-25 campaign ... great season for all of us Cheap Seat guys as Final Four Appearances were made by the Minford Falcons in D5, the South Webster Jeeps carried the torch for the Southeast District in D7, the Eastern Pike Eagles lost in the D6 Regional finale to Monroe Central - the eventual state champion in D6 ... outstanding run by all 3 of these teams ... I've compiled the list of All Ohio individual honors for all of the divisions represented in the Southeast District D3, D4, D5, D6, D7 ... lots of great players who will be moving on due to graduation with some underclassmen returning to move up the All Ohio list in the coming year(s) ... congratulations to ALL of these outstanding players from the SE District who "showed out" all season for their teams ... wishing you all much luck in your futures ... thank you all for sharing your talents with all of us in the SE District as you gave us all memories for a lifetime from this past season on the courts of Southern/Southeast Ohio ...

This group of seniors have been so fun to watch. Not sure there have been this many exceptional seniors in a good while. Several 1000 point scorers, several with trips to the Convo, several with numerous honors. Kudos to all these young men. Nice job pfloyd

... as I've watched basketball in the SE district with "earnest" for the last 25 years (seems longer, but that would be when I started looking at teams, players, coaches as more than a passing fan , I started posting on jjhuddle - so I felt I needed to KNOW what I was talking about) ... this is always the time of year when you say - "Wow ... Who's going to replace this last group of seniors? - Stadelman? Montgomery? Kayser? Roberts? Schweickart? Buchanan? ... the Teams? - Minford? South Webster? Eastern? Warren? Fairland? ... some of these players we watched develop over 4 years or 3 years - they were truly some of the best of the best - you don't replace them ... end of story - they have carved out permanent spots in the annals of Southern Ohio basketball ... what you do is add them to the ever growing list of players we "compare" all of the "up-and-coming" players to as they too begin "making their mark" in Southern Ohio basketball - Kage Alexander, Maddox Kazee, Colben Beucler, Asa Kline, Logan Russell, Bronx Carpenter, Gage Bowers, Landan Owens, Hudson Edwards, Caydon Cox, Griffin Friend, Brady Jajczyk, Carson Stowers, Boston Web, Jack Howland etc. ... then we have the best of the best that are primed to continue their climb, leave their mark - and yes, add themselves to the list of "benchmark" players we compare the newcomers to - Carson Davis, Reed Brinager, Adam Guthrie, Blake Fitch, Noah Haithcock etc. ... then we have the "teams" - which "teams" are going to step up and have the opportunity to carry the torch and represent the SE district in regional/final four play - Do we have a team or teams who have the qualities where WE can say in the preseason that they have chance to get to the Elite 8, Final Four ??? ... usually teams who make THAT claim of being able to "get to the Show" have TEAM - not just one player dominated - relative size, 3 to 4 scorers, a point guard leader on the floor, depth ( at least 6-7 deep off the bench) , today's game dictates perimeter scoring from multiple players to go with role players who can/do step up at both ends and yes you NEED "next level players" that believe in themselves - believing they can play with anyone on the floor ... coaching staff that prepares & motivates ... Do we have a team or teams who have THOSE qualities or can check off as many boxes as possible ??? Chesapeake? Eastern Brown? Fairfield Leesburg? Meigs ? Unioto ? Sheridan? Waverly? Valley ? Symmes Valley? - this past season Minford, South Webster, Meigs were all mentioned in the same sentence as Final Four, state championship - and it wasn't "tongue in cheek" ... after "seeing" what Minford "had" as far as TEAM "makeup" or South Webster , Meigs - are there any teams in the SE District that we can say - they have enough of the boxes checked off that the Final Four is a definite possibility ??? ... so much to think about this off season !!! ... post season preparation starts now - are the best of the best playing AAU competition that gives them a chance to develop the "it" factor - "I'm as good as anyone on the floor" attitude ? ... the best of the best are going to be just that - will these top level players understand that THEY have to develop the incoming role players? - teams are only as good as their weakest link - raising the level of the "weakest link" is a must for TEAM ... going to be a fun off season!!! ... I'm getting psyched for the 2025-26 season that has already started ...
