Tropical, odd how the Z-ville players lost their composure, when it was the Cavs whose star player was on the bench with 2 early fouls and the ejection of his father from the gym, isn't it? Hope your lip is made of leather. Go Cavs!!!!

Army,

The game was probably played more at Zanesville pace. The take their opportunities to run, but mainly ran their offense and created open space for Harris (#24) while Aronhalt roamed the perimeter and knocked down jumper after jumper. The Cavs can and did play a nice half court game in the 1st half with Chambers getting feed. He was unstopable in the 2nd qtr.

I think the game changed when the Cavs went more pressure and forced Z-Ville to do some different things. Coach K. put Dawes on Aronhalt which put a bigger body on him. He hit a few tough shots, but the thing I noticed is we kept him off the boards (Dawes had 9). Aronhalt had double figure boards and many were offensively.

As for the crowd, what can you say. Even though Z-Ville may be leaving the league, both schools have an opportunity to create an old COL rivalry. I hope they schedule each other non-league after the 08/09 season. I was told Z-Ville does not sell out the gym, but there was only a few seats left when I glanced around. I am sure some Cavs faithful did not risk the drive (as I noticed quite a few missing that are normally rolling with the team). Great atmosphere and the Z-Ville student section is pretty daggone good. I love their spirit. The only thing that helps you is that they are positioned at one end of the court (back some 40-50 feet or so). They are loud, but at least they are not behind the visitors bench.

You can also tell Z-Ville has an excellent season ticket base. This is a very good program. I don't know how many the place really holds, but there are a few spots you would not want to sit (because of the view). They truly keep the place rocking. With the TV cameras in view and the amount of security, you would have thought you were at a college game.

I welcome the return trip to Chilly in two weeks and I believe that there will no inch uncovered in the "HAT" as the place will be packed.

GO CAVS!!!

there has not been this much excitment for a ross county basketball team in years. I do not remember a time in the last decade or two that a ross county team is expecting to take state.

Does Hitchens, or Chambers have any younger siblings that ball?

The Overall atmosphere at Zanesville gym is what High School sports is all about. The gym was electric and the players/fans/coaches will never forget it. I just hope our Chilicothe people show the same type of passion in 2 weeks.

Go Cavs!

What a game! Arronholt lived up to his billing he didn't have any easy shots all night but still poured in 27. And Hitchens just took the game over completely in the 2nd half for 25 2nd half points! Chambers also had a big game. Great game, great players, great atmosphere. Can't wait for the rematch!

hitchbone64,

I too hope we keep the old C.O.L. rival on our basketball schedule and to add to that, the SEOAL Rivalry going on with the Zanesville Blue Devils after they leave the league concluding with the 2008-2009 season.

GO CAVS :!:

Great win for the Cavaliers. The thing that impresses me the most is that of all their BIG time wins against North College Hill, Dunbar, and Zanesville, none have been on a home-court.

Having watched them against Dayton last Saturday at the National Hoops Classic, I was a bit surprised by the lack of students that traveled. Yeh, there were a ton of older folks in the crowd, but I can't believe that as good as Chilli is, they don't seem to have a more spirited student section.

Again, congrats to the Cavs. Both the students at CHS and the general public in Chillicothe, need to realize that this group IMO really might have some big-time legs as the tourney approaches.

Ty Webb,

we have been saying this for two seasons now. However, I am at the point, that I want to commend the kids and adults that come out week after week and game after game. A reporter mentioned to me last night, that if the Zanesville game did not get the community going nothing will. I completely agree, but I fully expect the bandwagon to start feeling up once the tourney starts. It is just a shame that the faithful have to stand in the same lines as the bandwagon crew to get tickets.

GO CAVS!!!

i had to use vacation time to get off work early last year to get tourney tickets. and when you get to the game, you see faces of people that NEVER go to the game. i had a guy at work last year telling me his wife and mom had already bought 8 tickets... what irritated me was that they hadnt gone to a game in over 15 years. kept rubbing it in my face cause he knew i hadnt gotten my ticket yet and might be left out . hitch, can you buy doc tickets at the game next fri. against athens?

bronc,

We have requested that there be a ticket pre-sale prior to the DOC game. As of Friday, there was no plan to do so. We will follow up again Monday. I have suggested that we do this as a non-refundable in the event of cancellation. The administration problem is the refund of money if indeed the game were cancelled. As with Zanesville not doing pre-sale for their games, it is not our policy either. Back in a day, the students bought pre-sale and also could buy a few for parents prior to the game. I don't see a problem with that, but I am just a fan.

GO CAVS!!!

... I'm going to guess that any decision on pre-sale tickets for the DOC would have to be a "league decision" ... it would have to be available for all of the games being played on the DOC ... question I just thought about ... since this is the DOC their are NO reserved seats? first come first serve? ... when I get to Chillicothe I can seat somewhere besides in the little corner of the gym? I'm liking the way I'm thinking already LOL ...

pfloyd,

I was hoping the same thing went I went to Z-Ville (that I would get a nice seat). Wishful thinking and lol.

Unless something changed today, Season Ticket holders were informed that their season tickets are good for the DOC. Sounds like the league is letting the Host team handle the tickets/revenue. First come, First serve will apply to those who line up first. My hope is our students get their tickets at school, so they don't have to stand in line. I am just glad I have my four tickets in the cabinet. They may be worth gold on Feb 9th.

GO CAVS!!!
