This is
ridiculous!!!! Jay Kline does
NOT deserve this. He is a
great coach, but to say someone else isn't, or should be replace by Monkeys is
idiotic and asinine.
I agree. Combs has definatley had alot to do with the development of talent in V.C..He has also had a lot of help, such as, Bob Grillo, Frank Guthrie, the late John Prater, Terry Hale etc.
As for Vinton County success, I am very humble to be recognized with that group of fine individuals. However, Coach Matt Combs is by far the biggest reason for VC success. He has put the right people in place to be successful and has a great sense of developing individual talent and having that talent recognizing their roles with in the team. And he will be the first to tell you that he has been blessed with WONDERFUL players, which could be attributed to their parents.
There are some that say it is just because there is talent, but VC has always had talent. And for those who need proof, think of this;
1997-1998 -- Ryan Caudill, Todd Braden, Aaron Ward, Casey Nice, 6'8" Chad Damron, Josh Patterson, just to name a few. They were 11-10.
1993-1994 -- Andy Booth, Jason Snider, Scott Braden, Nolan Yates, Jeremy Ward, just to name a few. They were 12-10.
1990-1991 -- Jason Caudill, Tommy Reid, Shawn Speakman, Ray Braden, Jason Williams, just to name a few. They were 16-6.
1980-1981 -- Tim Hale, Randy Prater, Danny Peyton, Jeff Oney, David Cottrill, again just to name a few. They were 8-14.
That should clear up any argument, there has always been talent at VC, but Matt Combs has won with it.
