Congrats to the Vikings on the win. At stage of the game a win is a win. Court House made the game interesting. Was talking to a coach closer to the Court House area at half and he was saying that Court House was not playing to what they were capable of playing. The second half was interesting and a very enjoyable game to watch.

Give WCH all the credit in the world. They did not run away and hide, they brought the pressure, made shots and as great athletes would do, made plays. In the fourth the Vikings forgot how to rebound and did not handle the pressure very well. It wasn't so much the things we were doing wrong, it was what they were doing right. But, we won and we ain't giving it back.

Sweet Pea, I hear what you are saying, again. However, it does not make it right and hell, I could be wrong also. But stay tuned, as per your request, VC has beef up their schedule for next season. I will share at the end of the season. Even you will find it more appropriate and it could be a killer considering we are graduating 5 seniors, which all were major contributors this season.

WCH just did not show up until the fourth quarter then they had to scramble to come back. If WCH had come to play, this game would have went the other way - by a lot. VC just could not handle the pressure. Only way the VC team that I seen tonight beats McClain is if they find a away to play the game in the paint, they won't win it with this type of guard play.

Vinton County has a way of making teams not play to their potential and also making teams look like they didn't show up. Survive and advance and good luck to the Vikings in the next outting :!:

Only time will tell. Does the Vikings have the ability to look like Doctor Jeckle and Mr. Hide? Just wondering.

I guess you could ask that about any high school basketball team.

Bassmaster-good point. The players are just young kids on the court and things can change very fast. Was impressed with what I saw last night. Looked like Vinton County lost focus when they had the big lead and opened the door for Court House.

Hope to make the games next friday night.

I would think that coaching basketball could be scary at times because of how quickly things can change and get out of control.

WCH has struggled at the point guard position everytime I have seen them this year. The first three quarters were more of the same. The comeback in the fourth was determination from the seniors for the Blue Lions. Jeff Shaw not being able to find his shooting touch was big.

... hawkeye ... I understand that the Vikings have added my Purple from Logan to their "non-league" schedule for next season ... a good add for VC BUT I'm disappointed in Logan staying Below the Line for a non-league contest when they need to be playing D1 schools Above the Lancaster-Dixon Line imo ... by the way the last time Logan played Vinton Co. the Vikings BEAT Logan at the Katie ...

No offense to VC but Logan needs to use its non-league schedule to play OCC, Central Catholic League or even Cols City League teams. Above the line, not below.

Yes, it is true. I believe Logan will make the first visit next season. And the Vikings are 2-4 against the Purple.

Congrats to Coach Combs and the Vikes on another win. WCH played their butts off in the 4th Qtr and their press was pretty effective.

Hey Hawkeye...it was good to see you last night. Maybe next week, my buddy and I will be able to see you eye-to-eye. ;-)

Congrats to the Vikes. They played hard and deserved to win. Next week we have to step up the defensive intensity in the 4th. Good luck against Greenfield.

LOL - yes I meant Travis. I played against Jeff in school, followed his pro career, see him at his daughters middles school games, and sat behind him last night - had Jeff on the mind. I saw Travis hit 7 threes vs Hillsboro - the kid can shoot the rock, it just did not fall last night.

You sound like most people who have lost to VC this year. Saying our team didnt show up or only played well for 1 quarter. VC's "D" makes teams look bad. I hope your Tigers come into next weeks game thinking like you. VC shouldve won this game by 20. Had a 19 point lead at one point, but I can understand why you would think CH is the better team........NOT!!! They had untimley fouls in the 4th couldnt hit foul shots, basiclly they didnt put this team away. But its survive and advance, and the Vikes are still kicking. I have yet to see VC run on all cylinders this year. If they do watch out this team can be explosive. The better team won just like the better team will win next week. Great win Vikes one more for District!!!
