Re: Minford 2003
I think it was a mixture of injuries and Coach Ashleys inability to adapt his offense to the injuries.
Re: Minford 2003
i mean they did beat a pretty good burg team. . .must have been some drastic player losses. . .
I've never seen one that obvious just by looking at records i could tell something bad had happened

I heard that Ryan McGraw (QB) dislocated his shoulder and was doing good to hand the ball off. That just destroyed the whole offense when we couldn't throw and keep the defense honest. They started very well though.

Re: Minford 2003
In the game against Portsmouth West that would have given the Falcons the SOC outright, McGraw did injure his shoulder. Many around the team agree that things started going downhill after the 10-0 upset against Wheelersburg. Their 2 wins afterwards against Northwest and Waverly were sloppy. You could kind of get the idea that they were content after beating the burg.
They had the potential to be a very successful team, the Burg game and the game before against Nelsonville were very exciting football games.

Ill also add, the Falcon Defense was very good bunch, the first few games averaging less than 6 points allowed..
This defense with the addition of Luman running game and McGraw-Lloyd passing game, and you had a tough football team.

Wasn't that the year they had to play all of their home games at Northwest? I remember the Burg having wide open recievers on Minfords DB's all night long who would either drop a pass that hit them right in the hands or the QB would over throw them and the Falcons did just enough to get the 10-0 win.

As a Minford fan I can recall seeing this and just about having a heart attack a few times, bottom line is that they won though. It's a shame that team didn't finish out the year the way they started it. They may have been able to make some noise in the playoffs that year. Was that the year that Minford was in the DIV playoffs or was that 2000?

Re: Minford 2003
If my memory serves me right, An undefeated Minford team came into West and Sophomore Jerrod Pendleton had his coming out party. That night he had something like 12 carries for 200 yds and 4 tds.
