Prayers Needed For Family

Post by Runner »

My mom just got a phone call from her brother who lives in St Albans Wva and was informed that one of his 16 year old twin grandsons (my second cousin) was shot in the head and killed sometime this morning while turkey hunting.

He was not found until sometime this afternoon by his father who went looking for him, after he did not return home shortly after 12:00. No one else was around the time he was found. He was using a bow while hunting, so the wound was not self inflicted.

According to my uncle, he told my mom that whoever shot him walked up to where he was because there was 1 other set of footprints at the site. Then walked away without reporting it.

Not much information on the Charleston news at this time.

Thanks to all who have responded to this post...

The stories that were published in the papers and on the news was just to get something reported to the concerned public. There is a lot much more that I have found out, but I cannot go into detail at this time in a public forum.

But I will add...

At the church for the 3 hour visiting for Nick...there was over 4000 people that came in to pay their respects. Nick enjoyed hunting and wearing camo...Nearly every school student was wearing camo of some sort (shirts, hats, pants) when they got to the church Friday evening. The church holds close to 1000 people and it was nearly full Saturday morning for the funeral service. More than 200 cars followed the limo to the cemetary.

I have never seen anything like it my life.

The good part of any news that I heard from the family was that when Nick was found, he did not have any look of pain on his face. The shot that killed him, did so instantly. He did not have any type of startled look on his face or anything. So our concerns of him laying there bleeding to death was put to rest.
