Two years ago, the Chillicothe-Logan game was deemed a non-league contest. That year, there were seven league games, plus Chill-Logan, which would have been eight for those two teams. (Let's not rehash the laborous "who-beat-who-and-this-game-didn't-matter" argument).
After scouring the 2008 SEOAL schedules, with Athens having departed, member schools have replaced Athens with a non-league game (Gallia opens with Athens). Chillicothe and Logan were not scheduled to play Athens this year and are playing each other.
Therefore, each SEOAL team is playing six games to determine the title, except for Chilli-Logan who are playing a 7th. Gallia Academy-Jackson appear to be in the same circumstance (7 games).
So, I thought I'd bring it up now. It would appear a league champion will be determined at the latest in Week 9. In fact, Gallia-Ironton would open league play in Week 3 (9/5) while everyone else begins in Week 4 (9/12). Of course after Zanesville leaves next year, this will settle in to a 7 game league schedule across the board.
Please also note the number of consecutive games either on the road or home stands.

Just as the discussion went on, ad nauseum, part of it was also the fact that beginning this year, this game would be a league game. So ... the answer is yes.

Yes, Chillicothe-Logan is a league game this season -- but keep in mind that Gallipolis at Logan in week 4 is NOT A LEAGUE GAME! That game was scheduled by the ADs as a filler non-league game, so that game doesn't count in the SEOAL.
Chillicothe and Jackson have seven SEOAL games and everyone else has six.

If that's the case, the breakdown for league games:
Chillicothe - 7
Gallia Academy - 7
Ironton - 6
Jackson - 7
Logan - 7
Marietta - 6
Portsmouth - 6
Warren - 6
Zanesville - 6
Perhaps a "6 game" winner will get a co-championship with a "7 game" winner?
For instance, Jackson is 7-0 and Warren 6-0 (they do not meet), are they co-champs?
Chillicothe - 7
Gallia Academy - 7
Ironton - 6
Jackson - 7
Logan - 7
Marietta - 6
Portsmouth - 6
Warren - 6
Zanesville - 6

Re: Is Chillicothe-Logan a league game this year?
Blu_n_Whyt , only Chilli and Jackson will play seven league games this season while Logan and Gallia, and the other teams, will only play six. And you're right, two unbeaten teams would be co-champions, they could be 7-0 and 6-0. Plus, a 6-1 and a 5-1 would also be considered co-champions, it'll have to be based on number of losses this season and next due to the odd number of league games. Not the best of setups, but it was what the league ADs and principals decided until complete round-robin play starts in 2010. You'll have some teams playing six games and others playing five next season.

Will be kind of nice to see Zanesville leave after this season. Not to say I am glad to see them go, but at least this silly North and South Division will be over with. No more DOC games, no more one SEOAL team plays 7 and one plays 6 football games. Everybody will play against each other and there will be no doubt who the champion of the league is, in each sport.
