Which team will travel the most miles for away games?
With gas prices rising at an alarming rate, I was wondering what team will have to travel the most miles for away games this year in football? If you could mapquest the miles for your teams 5 (or in some cases 6) away games and put the total miles on here, we'll see who will have the longest journey to travel for the upcoming season....
Nelsonville-York
at Piketon = 76.13 miles
at Berne Union = 23.58 miles
at Wellston = 33.60 miles
at Belpre = 48.65 miles
at Vinton County = 25.83 miles
Total = 207.79 miles X 2 = 415.58 miles roundtrip

Marietta

at CAMBRIDGE = 48.04
at ZANESVILLE = 69.25
at PORTSMOUTH = 133.94
at GALLIA ACADEMY = 69.03

We have Zanesville, Portsmouth, and Gallia three straight weeks!!!! Great job SEOAL Comish.

Re: Which team will travel the most miles for away games?
I did these in general, and not necessarily point-to-point. Close enough.
@ Nerk -- 28.5
@ Logan -- 65.5
@ St. Charles -- 53.8
@ Gallia Academy -- 95.6
@ Jackson -- 92.9
336.3 miles X 2 = 672.6 miles round trip total.
(We get the GAHS and Jackson trips on back-to-back weeks!)

Athens -
@ Bloom Carroll = 49.61 miles
@ Meigs = 30.23 miles
@ Alexander = 16.53 miles
@ Nelsonville-York = 8.83 miles
@ Belpre = 41.59 miles
Total miles = 146.79 miles x 2 = 293.58 miles roundtrip
Warren -
@ Philo = 47.68 miles
@ Marietta = 15.40 miles
@ Zanesville = 56.95 miles
@ Logan = 53.43 miles
@ Chillicothe = 95.31 miles
@ Ironton = 115.48 miles
Total miles = 384.25 miles x 2 = 768.50 miles roundtrip
I'm guessing Athens has one of the shorter total travel distances in all of southeastern Ohio. Warren has to have one of the highest. I guessed they were the highest, but it looks like Marietta is even higher.

Re: Which team will travel the most miles for away games?
I don't know the mileage as I haven't looked it up but East goes to...
9-6 Matewan (Away)
9-12 Buffalo (Away)
9-19 Manchester (Away)
10-17 Green (Away)
10-25 Notre Dame (Away)
I can't imagine how many miles the team from Canada is going to eat up traveling this up coming year especially traveling all the way to Ironton they have everybody beat

warren also has 3 away games right in a row...and by away we're talking far...why is this? who schedules 3 road games back to back to back anyway?
Re: Which team will travel the most miles for away games?
The league commissioner does all of the league scheduling.

St. Clairsville Red Devils
08/22/08 Richmond Edison= 38.56
09/26/08 Indian Creek = 34.79
10/10/08 Martins Ferry = 12.53
10/24/08 Harrison Central = 16.16
Total= 102.04 miles x 2 = 204.08 Roundtrip
I guess this is a plus living in an area with many local public schools...scheduling and distances are fairly easy to accomodate.

You also have to take into account that most schools take at least two buses. Between players, coaches, equipment, cheerleaders and the band and their equipment some take three buses to each game.
