Poca actually has someone who dresses up in a big "Dot" suit and runs around during football and basketball games, it's always good for a laugh.

i heard that tarheel referred to civil war soldiers in NC. something about they wouldn't back down and the enemy said that they must have tar on their heels. not that it's correct but it's what i've always heard.

There used to be a huge Electrical Power Plant in Philo & so they nicknamed the School after it.

The new high school they built 2 years ago was moved from the Philo side of the river to the Duncan Falls over and many people speculated that they would change the name but thankfully, they did not.

Not only is Poca's mascot the Dots, but they are a great program and are in the hunt just about every year. We do a lot of business there and that town is all about football and the Dots.

Poca won three straight titles about 5-6 years back but has struggled since. I think they've only made the playoffs once since we (Point) started to play them and that was in 2004.

Here are a couple out of the politically incorrect category:

Pekin (IL) Chinks (I believe the name was changed in the 80s.)

Cuba City (WI) Cubans
