Oak Hill Football 2008

Post by OSU Buckeyes 5 »

Haven't seen much talk on here about the Oaks this summer. How is the team looking so far? With so many returning starters, the Oaks should be a title contender in the SOC 1 this year shouldn't they?

I would think that O.H. would be an SOC I contender, but there is a blue team from Sciotoville that might have a lot to say about that.

dunno if the peake game will show too much. . but we peakers are looking a 5-5 season more than likely, just guessing and if hill takes it by 2 or more tds i'd say they have a good shot at the soc1

FRIDAY 22-Aug CHESAPEAKE HOME 7:30

FRIDAY 29-Aug RIVER VALLEY HOME 7:30

FRIDAY 5-Sep ROCK HILL AWAY 7:30

FRIDAY 12-Sep NORTHWEST HOME 7:30

FRIDAY 19-Sep MINFORD AWAY 7:30

FRIDAY 26-Sep EAST AWAY 7:30

FRIDAY 10-Oct SYMMES VALLEY AWAY 7:30

FRIDAY 17-Oct SOUTH GALLIA HOME 7:30

Who do the Oaks scrimmage this year? The first scrimmage has been with River Valley the last several years, but they are on the regular season schedule now. Is the second scrimmage still with Adena?

WITH THAT SCHEDULE THE OAKS SHOULD BE 10-0!MAYBE WITH THE KIDS COMING THROUGH THE SYSTEM RIGHT NOW THEY COULD LOOK AT PLAYING TEAMS THAT WILL GET THEM READY FOR THE PLAYOFFS,THAT SCHEDULE IS NOT ANY THING CLOSE TO WHAT THEY WILL PROBALY SEE IN ROUNDS 1&2.

That is about as good of a schedule as we can get being that we are in the SOC 1.

Rounds 1 and 2???????
We have never even made the playoffs before.
Let's just hope for a winning season.

The schedule is about as good as it's going to get in my opinion. It's hard to go out of the area and schedule a bunch of powerhouses. Oak Hill can make the playoffs easily with that schedule. Over scheduling might make you a little better due to the level of competition, but it might also leave you sitting at home for Week 11.

The Oaks realistically have a shot to contend for the SOC 1 title and make the playoffs. A winning season would obviously be nice, but I believe the expectations at Oak Hill are a little higher than that now.

From the two years ago to last year you can see a great improvement. I think they will have a good team this year.

I think Coach Phillips and the Oaks will be much improved this year. I was very impressed with Jessie Slone last year. Also a lot of other talent coming back this year.

Good luck to the Oaks.

How many seniors or starters did Oak Hill lose from last year?

Saw the Oaks working in the weight room a couple of weeks ago, and I can vouch that there are some good things going on in Oak Hill.

They should win some games this year. Coach Phillips is running a pretty tight weight room program that should pay off for the boys when the hitting starts.

KarlAgathon... you know that is what alot of folks don't understand; that it all begins in the weightrooms at every jr.high and highschool level! I was watching "Local On Demand" last night; they have a section on there where you can watch last years high school football games and the playoff games. I was watching the Newark Catholic vs. Hopewell-Loudon Div VI State Championship game. Newark Catholic at halftime was up on them 28-0. They spoke with NC's head coach at the half and he said something that was ever so true! He said; "This all started 364 days ago!" And that is true! The very next day starts the training for the next year and the really good programs adhere to that type of mentality and dedication! The results of this type of attitude towards football is; they have been in the OHSAA Playoffs more than any other school in Ohio; 30 times! They had more playoff wins than any other school in Ohio; 52 and 7 State Championships! and runner up 6 times!

I'm glad to see more teams in southern Ohio adopt this type of belief system in football! It just means a good representation in the playoffs and less injury prone come time to put the pads on!

I see Oak Hill going 7-3 this year with losses to East, Rock Hill, and Minford.

If players are used the way they should be. Oak Hill should go atleast 8-2 to 10-0. But I guess we'll just have to wait and see how things play out. Oak Hill's toughest game will be Minford.

Wish we (Berne Union) were scrimmaging them again this year but were not.

Look for the young lefty at QB to excel and lead this team for the next three year to great thing.

Best of luck John on the new position.

I've heard that two-a-days have been going well for the Oaks. I'm looking forward to seeing how they look in their upcoming scrimmages.

The Oaks will be scrimmaging Zane Trace on August 9th at 10:00am and Adena on August 15th at 7:00pm. Both scrimmages will be at Davis Stadium in Oak Hill.
