I be surprised if they would look at SOS
Re: Division IV Lucasville Valley and Meigs County sectional
I'm sticking with my pre season picks of Southern, Manchester and South Webster to make tournament runs.IMO I also think the district player of the year will be off of one of these three teams.
Re: Division IV Lucasville Valley and Meigs County sectional
I think Eastern Pike can sneak into the mix as well.

Hope you are tight Lightle04! I do think D4 is very balanced and Eastern Pike (if they play well) will be able to compete with the teams that some are calling the favorites (S.Webster, Manchester, and Southern) and have a legitimate chance at beating them.lightle04 wrote:I think Eastern Pike can sneak into the mix as well.
Last year, Webster and Manchester were head and shoulders above everyone else. I am not so sure that is the case this year.
I am excited for the tourney! This balance should produce some exciting game and maybe even a few upsets!

Re: Division IV Lucasville Valley and Meigs County sectional
It makes sense to have it their ... I actually like the Meigs gym ... But with a lot of teams from down around in that area (Eastern, Southern, South Gallia won't have to travel that far ... Even Waterford is probably closer to Pomeroy than Athens) I think the Meigs location was a good place to have the DIV sectional.
I am curious however as to why it was switched? I personally would much rather walk out my back door and up to Athens High School to see all the games!

Not if you are from Beaver....lol Is the gym nice? Plenty of seating?93Bulldog wrote:It makes sense to have it their ... I actually like the Meigs gym ... How long of a haul will that be? I agree Athens would have been better!

I like the Meigs gym because of the lighting - it allows for good pictures to be taken ... lol
But yea, it's nice ... The floor I think is pretty new and the seating is fine ... Not as big as Athens - but suitable for a DIV sectional.

Obviously, the two biggest "winners" in the move to Pomeroy are Southern and Eastern Meigs. 40 miles less travel for each and Southern is an 8 mile drive (according to yahoo maps). The big loser is Eastern Pike an added 40 miles to their trek, one way. I guess there is no better way to slice it up, so we'll see if Meigs HS is a better venue or Wellston in the coming weeks.
Re: Division IV Lucasville Valley and Meigs County sectional
Actually meigs dont seat as many as they used too, but its still big enough.
The winners will be happy its at meigs and the losers will be mad saying it should be at wellston.

Move it back to Vinton County or Alexander if they feel it's necessary to move. 70 miles one way is a little far for a team to travel for there sectional. I'm not sure the reason it needs moved every couple years

Re: Division IV Lucasville Valley and Meigs County sectional
I agree that kind of travel is crazy. This sectional is so spread out, Waterford to the north most edge and St. Joe in Ironton being the southern most and from Eastern to Eastern (Pike and Meigs) from west to east. Moving it arould every couple years might be to keep it fresh and make the travel distance vary every few years so one team doesn't always have too huge of an advantage or disadvantage. The true center of this sectional would be tough to figure out but somewhere in the Oak Hill, Rio Grande and Bidwell area would be closest to "center"? Where is the new River Valley High School? Is it open yet and isn't it around the Bidwell/Vinton area? Oh well, just my two cents worth.SOCFAN1430 wrote: 70 miles one way is a little far for a team to travel for there sectional. If your a top 4 seed ... isn't it just one game anyways ... I mean, if your Eastern Pike - win your game & then your right back in Athens. (Which BTW - with the new highway - Pomeroy/Meigs high school isn't that far from the Convo) ... Your talking about a 20 minute drive.

I can live with that, one game deal with it and try to make it to the convo. That's the goal for all teams at the very least, but does anyone know the reason for the move?

Re: Division IV Lucasville Valley and Meigs County sectional
They have not played in the Wellston gym all year (they are having the floor re-done) - its the only reason I can think of.
In an earlier post - I asked the question about moving it and wishing it was still at Athens (but that is the DIV girls - I got them mixed up) ... Both were moved to Meigs.
The boys I'm sure they moved because of the floor in Wellston ... Moving the girls from Athens to Meigs is what I am curious about.

Re: Division IV Lucasville Valley and Meigs County sectional
Eastern will travel 20 more miles....they are the odd man out having to go there instead of Meigs.....the problem is they travel the longest and have no league affiliation...so they could get stiffed as well!....but are clearly a big favorite to get to the Convo....but the SW/Manchester matchup is where it bites them....not that they couldn't win. New Boston might get the 3....but not betting on it.

Was not aware of the floor being redone at Wellston. That's surprising considering how new there facility is.
