Ironton - Burg? Deja Vu All Over Again?

Post by kantuckyII »

Just looking at the series. I was thinking that Wheelersburg had never beaten Ironton two in a row. I was wrong. It last happened in '98 and '99. In 1998, Wheelersburg beat Ironton pretty darned good and a shut out, 21 to 0! The next year, '99, it was a squeaker! That same year, Ironton made it all the way to the State Championship game!

Now, we have the same thing. Last year, Wheelersburg defeated Ironton 39 - 6 and this year..the second win in a row by the Burg, another squeaker, 23 - 22!

Wonder if the Tigers will see the state game this year like in '99?! This could be a good sign for the Tigers after all!

Would not suprise me at all for the Tigers to make a deep run into the playoffs. They are a very solid team.

I was thinking the same thing Kantucky. On the way home I thought this could be like 99.

It could just as well be like 2007. A .500 season. Of course with a bye this week i guess .500 is out of the question. Besides the Tigers have another loss for sure on their schedule.

I don't know that I saw anyone making a prediction, it was simply a stated observation.

After playing a game like wheelersburg/ironton is only going to get both of these teams better and prepared for the rest of their schedule. I was thinking the same thing on the way home last night. Tigercannon 71

i could not think anything but how we let that one get away, i'm being as sincere as i can. but i think both teams will have great years. we slumbered through the first half, then came to life. just came up a little short.

The past example shows a couple of things:
1) Playing good competition makes you better (win or lose).
2) An early loss does not a season make.

May that hold true for this season.

Will Ironton make it back to the championship game?--Only time will tell.
(But just punt this time!)

Let me get this straight. Ironton just lost to a D-5 team and the fans are talking about a state championship. Kind of like saying Ralph Nader is going to be elected president.

To tell you the truth, I really don't think anyone cares how you see things.
